[SKOA Presents] Beats For Daze #2 (All Hallows Edition)
Once again back is the incredible, your neighborhood friendly Rocko Rock with a brand new installment of Beats For Daze. For those unfamiliar with the series, BFD is monthly playlist compiled based around producers (the unsung heroes of hip hop) who create some of my favorite head nodding tracks of the past and current along with some unreleased goodies as well, all rolled up into one nice hour plus mixture for your ear drums' enjoyment. I know that sounds like I just tried to pitch a TV show or product, sorry. Those that missed out on our first installment of the series (which hit 10,000 plays in month on 8tracks!) should check it out here.
Being October, we felt necessary to dedicate this month's mixture to the upcoming holiday, Halloween. That's right, this month we got 31 tracks of goodness all inspired from the most spooky fun day of the year. Don't worry the always obvious choice, Michael Jackson's "Thriller" will not make an appearance on the mixtape although I'm a bit sad I didn't just add Vincent Price's epic laugh. But I did find some nice a nice Halloween vinyl in my record crate to atmosphere of the total mix. It's a bit cheesy but whatever. Among these tracks we got some classics from Danger Mouse when he was known Pelican City, Dan The Automator when he just went by Automator, Portishead, Massive Attack, The Herbaliser and more. With the inclusion of some newer tunes from The Gaslamp Killer, Thavius Beck as well as others and one of my favorite creepy DJ Shadow jams "Give Me Back The Nights", a track so evil I had to take a picture of myself listening to it, which you view below. So set a spell for awhile and check out the full mix in the player above.
And if you are still reading this, I like to say thank you for taking the time and listening to our Beats For Daze playlist, it really means a lot to myself and SKoA. We're working on something super special for the next month as well as some more awesome things for the following months. So make sure you check out other mixtapes and if you are on 8Tracks.com follow us and spread the good music around. Have an awesome Halloween!
<3 Rocko loves you.
[Download] RJD2 - "The Good Life" Feat. Blueprint
Happy New Music Tuesday everyone! Before I get hopelessly loss with the release of the new NBA 2K game for weeks on end, I found it only right to deliver you wonderful people some of freshest new beats and jams. I know I shouldn't have. Anyways, for those of you who aren't a super obsessive fan like myself, you may not have heard that super producer RJD2 has hooked up with Stoli's (yes the vodka) web network ORGNL.tv on a series which showcases the creative works and processes from different artists around the music, art and fashion world.
In that series, we take a look into our favorite producer's studio as he work's on the "Most ORGNL Track" which turns out to be the new jam titled "The Good Life" featuring long time collaborator and Soul Position partner in crime Blueprint aka Printmatic. Check out and download the new cut below, which feels like a classic RJ/Soul Position track with quality production for Mr. D2 and that classic Blueprint flow. This track is also a great indicator of what's to come on the next Soul Position album, that is currently in the works but you didn't hear that from me ;).
[Listen] Blueprint - "Rise & Fall"
Rhymesayers/Weightless emcee and one part of the Indie Hip-Hop duo, Soul Position (along side producer RJD2), Blueprint aka Printmatic recently released his newest album Adventures In Counter Culture on Tuesday. The album was completely produced by Print himself and is definitely one of the best offerings I've heard this year. Need some convincing? Check out the 3 singles "Radio-Inactive," "Keep Bouncing" and "So Alive," as well as the new tune from the album "Rise & Fall" below. I knew Print was a dope producer and rapper but homie can sing as well. Make sure you pick up the album available now at all digital retailers and indie record stores.

Blueprint drops another single off his 2nd Rhymesayers solo album Adventures In Counter-Culture titled "So Alive." The single is now available to download wherever you pick up your digital media (I suggest Amazon) and features remixes by Innerpartysystem, X-144 and fellow Rhymesayers associate Budo, who I honestly think should be getting alot more buzz these days because his production his FUCKING AMAZING! Don't think so, check out his smooth ass remix for Print's new single below.
