[Watch] The Killers - "With or Without You" (U2 Cover)
Last week I went to watch The Killers for the fest time in years. As it happens it was the show in which Brandon and co left the stage 5 songs in due to his voice packing in. Yeah, that was a bummer. So I didn't get to enjoy many of the band's hits let along any covers! Well, Brandon's voice is back and at their London O2 Arena show the band performed a stripped down version of U2's "With or Without You". Give it a watch at the top via Prefix.
The Killers are set to return to the UK next year with a history making performance at London's Wembley Stadium.
[Listen] Theme Park - "Bloodbuzz Ohio" (The National Cover)
As we mentioned at the end of September, Theme Park are preparing to release an EP package in November via Transgressive. On the EP they take on Jessie Ware's "Wildest Moments", The National's "Bloodbuzz Ohio" and Hot Chips dance inducing track, "Ready For The Floor". Today though we can enjoy their revamp of The National's High Violet featuring track and the two seem to fit together really nicely giving it a different feel. Really enjoying a bit of Theme Park at the moment. If you missed the track "Two Hours" from them, check it out over here.
The EP is set for release on the 25th of November and you can pre-order it here.
[Listen] Alt-J - "Slow Dre" (Kylie Minogue x Dr. Dre Mashup)
Last weekend I witnessed my favourite gig of the year. A gig upon leaving I actually sent a text to my girlfriend and said it was in my all time top 5. A few days later, I still stand by that statement. It was flawless and it came from Alt-J who played a matinee show at Manchester's Royal Northern College of Music. The room was completely seated and from start to finish they just performed in perfect sync. Midway through the set I was impressed by a mashup they did of Dr. Dre's "Still Dre" and Kylie Minogue's "Slow". It doesn't sound like it should work but it does so damn well it's crazy. Today I was happy to see they recorded a version of it for Triple J's Like a Version segment in Australia. The results can be streamed below and you can hear a version of "Breezeblocks" over here too. Hat-tip to Hypetrak for the heads up on this recording of it!
If you haven't heard their album, An Awesome Wave, yet I advise you to do so.
[Listen] Biffy Clyro - "Stingin' Belle" x "We Built This City" (Starship Cover) in Radio One's Live Lounge
This week has marked Rock Week on Radio One and they've been putting on shows each night of some of the top names in rock from the world over. Last night Gaslight Anthem put in a great performance and today's guest was the soon to be Arena filling band, Biffy Clyro. They played a gorgeous stripped back version of their single "Stingin' Belle" and a mystery cover that turned out to be the 80's classic from Starship, "We Built This City".
Check them both out below and look out for some more tracks tomorrow following their live set tonight at Maida Vale. Their album Opposites is set for release on January 28th and I for one cannot wait!

[Listen] Muse - "Sign of the Times" (Prince Cover) Live in Radio One's Live Lounge
Earlier in the week we heard Mumford & Sons cover Alt-J's "Tessellate" in a Radio One Live Lounge special. Today they held another special show for the arena veterans that are Muse. You know, that band who are about to release their sixth studio album, The 2nd Law, on Monday October 1st. We got to hear the album in full earlier on in the week and as we mentioned it's more than a little to take in. It jumps from genre to genre with each track yet we've kind of come to expect that from the three piece in recent years. In the live lounge today they played some new tracks and old and also offered up a cover that they've played numerous times live in recent weeks. It was Prince's "Sign ☮ the Times" from his 1987 album of the same name. Big guitar lines and a soaring vocals from Matt. See what you make of it below.
Muse also performed on Jools Holland earlier in the week with the full show set to be broadcast this evening. You can watch them perform "Panic Station" and "Madness" over here in the mean time though.
[Listen] Mumford & Sons - "Tessellate" (Alt-J Cover) in Radio One's Live Lounge
Earlier today Radio One hosted Mumford & Sons for a special live lounge session in which they played some songs off of their recently released album, Babel, along with fan favourites from Sigh No More. As well as these though they threw in a mystery cover of their choosing. They decided to have a go at Alt-J's stunning track "Tessellate" which features on, An Awesome Wave, also recently released Stateside. The result is a pretty darn great sounding version of the track that doesn't detract too far from the original. Mumford do however manage to weave in their own sound to the song marvelously. Check it out below.
[Listen] Night Panther Covers Grizzly Bear's "Two Weeks"
Farzad Houshiarnejad and Mike Cammarata, the minds behind the sex pop project Night Panther have been keeping themselves busy, releasing two singles, the first being "Snudge" and the second being "Fever". The two singles are catchy as hell, and they hint at the duo releasing bigger material in the future. Singles aside, the Philadelphia duo have turned their sights towards Grizzly Bear's memorable indie pop track "Two Weeks", turning the song into a fuzzy, anthemic summer jam. Stream the cover below, as well as the duo's single "Fever". Leave it to Night Panther to get us all hot 'n' heavy.
[Listen] Diamond Rings Debuts New Track "Runaway Love", Covers the Smashing Pumpkins
John O'Reagan, aka Diamond Rings, visited the studio of KCRW's Morning Becomes Eclectic earlier this week, where he offered up a number of new songs from his forthcoming sophomore LP Free Dimensional. Below, you can watch the replay of his performance of a new song titled "Runaway Love", as well as his cover of Smashing Pumpkin's "Disarm". Interesting side note, "Disarm" was the first song O'Reagan ever learned to play on guitar. Along with the video replay, you can stream the entire 45-minute session here.
