We know Laura Marling has a mutual respect for Ryan Adams as we saw them perform a wonderful track together at the legendary Abbey Road Studios back in November last year, and we've also seen some footage from this very show above at the McKittrick Hotel in New York City. However, the two overlap again as Laura played a cover of Adams' "My Winding Wheel" and you can enjoy the performance at the top. I hope the two meet up again for some more performances in the future but this ode to one from the other will do for now.
[Watch] Ryan Adams - "Holy Diver" (Dio Cover)
We know by this point that Ryan Adams is a talented man that likes to put his own twist on songs. Today, BPM points towards a rather nice sounding moment when the man covered Dio's classic hit, "Holy Diver". As Beats point out the venue has a rather strict policy about using video equipment or mobile phones to capture images etc but some gig goer managed to get a pretty decent recording of the cover. Peep it at the top.
[Listen] Portugal. The Man - "I'd Rather Go Blind" (Etta James Cover)
Paying their respects to the late, great Etta James, Portugal. The Man have offered up a fantastic sounding cover of her classic track, "I’d Rather Go Blind". The track was part of a KCRW session the band did and it sounds devine. A fitting dedication from one talent to another. Etta will be missed but her legend lives on. Check out PTM's take on the track below.
