[Watch] Peter Wolf Crier - "Last Christmas (Wham! Cover)" A.V. Club Performance

Peter Wolf Crier cover "Last Christmas"

I know Shey has already gotten into the holiday spirit but I told myself that I'd wait until it was officially December, but thankfully November zipped on by and look where we are already! To kick off the Christmas season we have a new take on the Wham! 1984 classic "Last Christmas" from Minneapolis band Peter Wolf Crier. Of all the renditions that I've heard of this song, I have to give the guys props for creating a version that feels more serious than the rest.

Give the gift of Peter Wolf Crier in the form of their latest album Garden of Arms.

Many thanks to A.V. Club for having the guys in for this performance!

[News] Bob Dylan Tribute Album: 'Chimes of Freedom' Tracklist Feat. QOTSA, My Morning Jacket, Pete Townshend & More

In celebration of Amnesty International's 50th Anniversary, a collection of Bob Dylan covers has been put together and is set for release in January on the 24th to be precise. The full tracklist has appeared and it's frikkin' crazy! Like good crazy and absurd crazy, you know?! It'll be a 72 track monster compiling 4 discs and a host of talent from the world of music. It also throws a few weird number sin but hey, you gotta take the good with the bad.

Chimes of Freedom: The Songs of Bob Dylan Honoring 50 Years of Amnesty International will include covers from the likes of Queens of the Stone Age who take on "Outlaw Blues" from 1965's Bringing It All Back Home. My Morning Jacket tackle "You’re A Big Girl Now", Mariachi El Bronx add their fine acoustic goodness to "Love Sick". The Who’s Pete Townshend tackles the crooner number "Corrina, Corrina" and Cage the Elephant do "The Lonesome Death of Hattie Carroll". Now, thrown into the mix we have Miley Cyrus covering Blood on the Tracks' "You’re Gonna Make Me Lonesome When You Go". The one I really don't want to see covered in glitter and crap is "Don't Think Twice it's Alright" but that's been taken up by none other than Ke$ha. KE$SHA!? But still, this compilation will definitely be worth a listen. The full track listing of pure awesome can be found after the jump via CoS.

[Listen] Ed Sheeran - "Who You Are" (Jessie J Cover)

Earlier in the week the tireless Ed Sheeran paid a visit to the Radio 2 studio for a little chin wag with Dermot O'Leary. Whilst there though he laid down a few tracks for the listeners of the show. Ed seems to be able to play anytime and anything he puts his mind to. This time around he put in a great cover of Jessie J's track "Who You Are" with the results being below for your listening pleasure courtesy of our friends at The House of Coxhead. For the full interview and the performance of "Lego House" jump over here to the official Beeb site.

[Listen] Deadmau5 - "Codex" (Radiohead Cover)

Joel Zimmerman aka Deadmau5 likes to keep busy and when he isn't re-writing the history books or on the road he's in his studio making tracks, or as this example shows, covering tracks. The Daily Swarm points towards a cover he's created of none other than Radiohead, and not just any Radiohead track, one from their latest LP The King of Limbs. The track doesn't sample the original though and instead uses only Mau5's skills on a computer to re-create "Codex" in a completely different light. A good light nonetheless. Give it a listen below.
