[Listen] Jimmy Eat World - 'Damage' (EP)
Being in your mid-twenties, and 'discovering' music in you mid-teens most likely meant you'd of had a few staples in your Windows Media Player back then. (Yeah, I had Media Player for quite a while before converting to iTunes when I got my first brick of an iPod) One of the staples for my friendship group was Jimmy Eat World. You may remember them too if you were of a certain musical persuasion back in the early oughties. I wasn't fully aware they were still going, (I last posted about them in 2011) but they have a new album on the way, Damage, their seventh studio record, and it was produced by the extremely talented Alain Johannes. It's set for release on the 11th of June. Last weekend for RSD they released the Damage EP on which the title track of the aforementioned album was released along with a Radiohead cover. Check them both out below via Antiquiet.
[Watch] SPLASHH - "All I Wanna Do" (Official Video)
With Summer slowly beginning to poke its head through the clouds on the odd occasion, it's about time we had some music that brought the warmth along too 'cause who knows if we're actually going to have a proper bit of sun. At least us Brits anyway. Welcome SPLASHH to the equation, with their Southern hemisphere roots, the laid back guitar and vocals of this track "All I Wanna Do" is the perfect intro to the coming months and good times with friends. They've been slaving away self-producing their debut album which is due out on June 3rd but for now, get a little warmer and hit play above. Toasty.
[Listen] Jagwar Ma - "Man I Need (White Label Version)"
Jagwar Ma have just let loose a follow up to their single "The Throw" which we heard at the start of the year. This track is yet again a throwback to what I mentioned in the previous post on these guys, Madchester. I live in Manchester now and live in the wake of that period on a daily basis. Certain bars and clubs never left that era of music and drug exploration, Jagwar Ma though, like me, were far too young to be part of it in the 90's. Does that mean they can't make their own sound be a hat tip to that decade? No, and that's exactly what they've done yet again with "Man I Need" a near 10 minute track with aspects of Happy Mondays and The Stone Roses laced throughout. Check it out below.
[Listen] Biffy Clyro - "City of Dreadful Night" (Record Store Day 2013 Release)
Along with hundreds of bands last weekend, the now arena dominating Biffy Clyro released a limited edition 7" for Record Store Day. On it you got a live rendition of their single "Black Chandelier" and a completely new, previously unheard track called "City of Dreadful Night". It's taken a little longer for it to appear online than I'd of thought but hey, we've got the goods for you guys now and you can listen to it below.
Biffy just wrapped up performances at Coachella and have some festival and arena dates with Muse scheduled for June onwards, dates of which can be found over here. Their number one double LP Opposites is out now.
[Watch] The Dillinger Escape Plan - "When I Lost My Bet" (Official Video)
The Dillinger Escape Plan are preparing to unleash what is shaping up to be a face melting new album called One Of Us The Killer. An album sampler surfaced at the start of the month and the record itself isn't set for release until the 14th of May via the band's own Party Smasher Inc., in partnership with Sumerian Records. We've also got to hear lead single "Prancer" last month. They've now released a rather graphic video for new track "When I Lost My Bet" and it's a little gory featuring blood and guts but I wouldn't fully class it as NSFW. Get out of the mid-week slump by hitting play and turning this ish up loud. Wakey, wakey!
[Listen] Check Out The xx's New Song "Together"
The xx have rolled out their contribution to The Great Gatsby soundtrack, a dark, atmospheric number titled "Together." It's just what you might expect from the UK trio, but that has never been a bad thing. Stream it below.
The soundtrack for the film will be released on May 7th, while the movie itself hits theatres on May 10th.
[Listen] Work Drugs - "West Coast Slide"
It's been a long while since we've posted about Work Drugs, but as the summer sun creeps back into our lives so to does this Philadelphia duo. Adding to their growing library of infectious, summery tunes is "West Coast Slide," a dancey number perfectly fit for partying it up in the sunshine. The artwork even has a yacht on it, so why not party it up on a yacht?
The duo, made up of Thomas Crystal and Benjamin Louisiana, are currently working on their next full length release. The album should be out later this summer, but in the meantime why not download "West Coast Slide"? Check it out below.
