[Watch & Download] Yardlets - "Lot Lizard"

Here's a fun little number from self-proclaimed “slacker punk” Yardlets, which is comprised of Sam Goldberg of Broken Social Scene, Jeff Edwards of Shot While Hunting and Death From Above 1979's Sebastian Grainger. "Lot Lizzard" comes from their debut EP of the same name and is a taste of what's to come in early 2012 in the form of their debut full length. The band described the sound of the EP: “We wrote sing-alongs a la Buddy Holly and dressed them in leather, gasoline and Captain Crunch cereal.”

The band will start playing shows in the upcoming months, so stayed tuned!

[Watch] Broken Social Scene - "Sweetest Kill" (Video)

Earlier in the week we got news of Broken Social Scene setting off on tour with TV on the Radio, and today we get some new visuals from the band. All in all, a good week for Broken Social Scene fans! The video is for their Forgiveness Rock Record track “Sweetest Kill.” A kind of weird and twisted love story takes part in the video. It does contain a few things that you may not want to see and was directed by Claire Edmondson. It sees Bijou Phillips poisoning her boyfriend and then systematically disposing of the body in a pretty gruesome way. Check it out at the top and after the jump check out the bands upcoming tour dates.

[News] TV On The Radio And Broken Social Scene Touring Together

With TV on the Radio announcing a rather lacking tour of the US and Canada just a few weeks ago, yesterday the gaps got filled in though with an announcement of a tour between them and Broken Social Scene.

I'm sure the 9 date tour with Broken Social Scene will hit up 8 cities and will make for an impressive live show and evening of music if you're lucky enough to get down to one of the shows. In between the bands will also hit up Austin City Limits to perform. Check the dates after the jump including the rest of TVOTR's tour along with their date with Arctic Monkeys, Panda Bear, Smith Westerns and Warpaint. It's all go.

[Watch] Modest Mouse - "The World at Large" (Broken Social Scene Rework)

Broken Social Scene » Modest Mouse from The Voice Project on Vimeo.

As part of The Voice Project, an online cover song series that raises money and awareness for Ugandan women, Broken Social Scene have taken the Modest Mouse track "The World at Large" and reworked it. Broken Social Scene's singer and co-founder Kevin Drew, who is friends with Modest Mouse frontman Isaac Brock, said, “I know Isaac, you know, the guys, so I have no desire to cover this song and make it the same.” The rework is a great take on the original song, all the while adding the unique style and talent of each member of BSS. In the clip above (courtesy of TwentyFourBit), you can watch the band's somewhat impromptu process of reworking the song in-studio.

Also, head over to The Voice Project to see what they're all about and to support their cause.

Broken Social Scene On Tour in Early 2011

Despite being on tour right now, Toronto-based Broken Social Scene has just announced their tour plans for early next year. Starting on January 16th in London, Ontario, the group will be playing shows throughout North America, even at Edmonton's Freezing Man Festival. Also, there's a pretty big gap in between their New York show on January 18th and their appearance in Edmonton on January 29th, so expect more shows in between. You can check out the tour dates after the jump!

[Download] Broken Social Scene - "All to All" (Sebastien Sex Legs Grainger Remix)

Former Death From Above 1979 member Sebastien Grainger sure is showing up alot more lately. First with his collaboration "Black Water" off K-Os' upcoming (delayed) mixtape Anchorman and now he's remixing Broken Social Scene's "All To All". According to Pitchfork, this remix is the first of seven new "All to All" mixes that are set to hit various websites one-by-one each Monday over the next seven weeks. Sweet! Now can we just get a DFA 1979 reunion going? kthxbai
