[Download] Willis Earl Beal Leaks New EP through BitTorrent
In the same week that Death Grips controversially leaked their new album NO LOVE DEEP WEB, Willis Earl Beal jumps on the free release bandwagon. The soulful Chicago artist has leaked his new Principles of a Protagonist EP, with his label XL Recordings teaming up with BitTorrent to release the extended play for free. Apparently all you need to do is ask your record label (*cough* Death Grips *cough*). Download it here.
Principles of a Protagonist will serve as the soundtrack for Beal's upcoming animated film of the same name, and below you can stream the new version of "Cosmic Queries" as well as the tracklist for the EP—the EP is comprised of re-recorded versions of songs from Beal's debut album Acousmatic Sorcery.

Next month, the ever-soulful Willis Earl Beal will continue his impressive year with a new animated film called Principles of a Protagonist. The soundtrack for the film will feature re-recorded versions of his previous works, and the film itself will use illustrations done by Beal himself. His debut LP Acousmatic Sorcery included a fantastic cut titled "Cosmic Queries", and now you can hear the re-recorded version of the song. Listen to it below.
[News] Dot to Dot Festival Preview
Summer is creeping in and with that you'll of noticed a host of Festivals taking place in just about every corner of the globe. Dot to Dot Festival started back in 2005 in Nottingham bringing together some top music acts across a number of venues. Fast forward to 2012 and the event has grown to three cities, all playing host to the chosen bands over a weekend. This years event will take place over the weekend of June 2nd to 4th in Nottingham, Bristol and Manchester. It's sure to be a great way to spend the bank holiday weekend in the UK and some ridiculously good bands will take to the stages over the weekend.
Up at the top you can see some of the line-up which includes, The Drums, Pulled Apart by Horses, Wavves, Willis Earl Beal, Summer Camp, Willy Moon and countless other top artists. Over the next week or so leading up to the event we'll post up some recommendations for bands we'll most definitely be checking out and will be at the Manchester date to report on all the shows we possibly can! [Watch] Willis Earl Beal - "Swing On Low" Live on Later... with Jools Holland
Last night Later... with Jools Holland returned to the TV sets of many a British household, well, those wanting to enjoy some talented musicians before heading to bed. On the show Willis Earl Beal appeared and put in a performance of his Acousmatic Sorcery featuring track, "Swing On Low". A fine performance it was too. Next week the show is set to have appearances from Grimes, Jack White, Norah Jones and Alabama Shakes. It wasn't too long ago that we first got wind of Chicago lo-fi singer Willis Earl Beal and he's been going from strength to strength. Today we get the official video for his Acousmatic Sorcery featuring track, "Monotony". To match the sound it's a pretty lo-fi video seeing Beal wearing some Ski Goggles and a face mask. Must of been cold, you can see his breath mind, as he just stands on a street corner offering out a newspaper of sorts. Check it out above as people go about their daily business.

A new track has appeared online from Willis Earl Beal titled "Monotony". The young talent humbles from the South Side of Chicago and dishes up a lo-fi soul filled delivery of his tracks. This year he's re-release his what was self-released solo debut Acousmatic Sorcery on March 20th via XL Recordings. Let's start to get familiar with this guy 'cos I think we're going to be seeing a hell of a lot more of him this year.
