[News] Jay-Z Announces New Album 'Magna Carta Holy Grail', Due Out July 4th

Jay-Z's long-awaited follow-up to 2009's The Blueprint 3 has been announced: Magna Carta Holy Grail will be released on July 4th.

During game five of the 2013 NBA Finals, a three-minute trailer debuted. The trailer showed Hov in the studio with Pharrell, Swizz Beatz, Timbaland and Rick Rubin (who very recently served as executive producer on Kanye's Yeezus), where they discuss the beats and rhythms behind this new record. It also sampled some new music, and what you hear throughout the trailer sounds awesome. Check it out below.

Samsung has already purchased one million copies of Magna Carta Holy Grail, and will release an app on June 24th that gives an insight into the record. Then, the album will be available to download for free through that app on July 4th at 12:01am EST to the first one million Samsung Galaxy S III, Galaxy S4 and Note II users.

After the huge commotion Justin Timberlake stirred up just a few days ago, announcing his return with one hell of a teaser video, the countdown on his website has ended with the release of "Suit & Tie", his first song in over 6 years. Built on top of slick, extravagant production courtesy of Timbaland, the song sees Justin dishing out his trademark delicate-yet-sexy vocals to much delight. What's even better, though, is a slowed down minute providing ample opportunity for Jay-Z to share in the limelight. From start to finish, "Suit & Tie" is a glimmering, luxurious return for Justin. Timbaland's latest tracks that he's been dropping for his weekly feature Timbaland Thursdays have been a bit stale. Admit it. But Timbo, dropped a pretty a hot heat rock this week titled "808" featuring Brandy. Tim explains, " A lot of people have been asking about this song, so we decided release this one for the fans." A fan of Timbo asked him via Twitter why he didn’t release a track with longtime collaborator Missy Elliot on his Shock Value II project. Tim explained that it was “a rush project… it wasn’t time yet and I didn’t really get the mash up. It had too much pop… I wanted to even it out. Maybe that’s why I didn’t put Missy on it, cause it was mostly a pop album.”

Then in response he also dropped a preview of an unreleased tune featuring Missy titled “Swat Dat Fly.” Damn. This really makes me miss old Tim & Magoo albums.
