[News] Jack White says new music from The Raconteurs & The Dead Weather in the works
In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, Jack White has managed to get a lot of people very, very excited. He's stated that as well as working on new solo material, he's also been plugging away on new music with The Raconteurs and Dead Weather. Members of all the bands are now living in Nashville and naturally, they're good friends, they hang out and with that comes a musical outlet too. The Raconteurs have also now built their very own studio in Nashville which I'm sure helps with the process.
With this fantastic news though we are unsure as to which project will see the light of day first, but with Jack and Third Man Records who knows when it might be. Next week? Next year. We'll see. Watch this space.
[Listen] Jack White - "Machine Gun Silhouette"
An eager Jack White fan has posted the b-side on the "Love Interruption" single release, which is out today on Third Man Records. Definitely prefer the more upbeat vibe to this song over the A-side, but both are solid nonetheless. As April 23rd crawls its way here for his upcoming debut solo album Blunderbuss we can only expect and hope that ol' Jackie to have some surprises tucked up his sleeves for us along the way.
Make sure you head over to the Third Man Records store to grab a copy of "Love Interruption/Machine Gun Silhouette" for yourself.
[News] The Raconteurs Announce First Show In Two Years
In an interview with NME last year Brendan Benson said: "We [The Raconteurs] haven’t talked about it but [doing more is] not out of the question. The Raconteurs is a band that was founded on this impulsive basis..it was always spontaneous for us and we want to keep it that way. So when the time is right and everyone converges we’ll do it". Maybe that time is now? The Raconteurs have just announced their first live performance in over two years. Consequence of Sound have pointed us in the direction of MI Fest which have Jack White and Co confirmed as headliners for the festival which will take place on September 17th at the Michigan International Speedway. Michigan is lucky.
So, for now let's all cross our fingers and toes and hope that Jack White, Brendan Benson, Jack Lawrence and Patrick Keeler will announce some more dates for 2011 or start creating some more sweet music for our listening pleasure. We can dream right? One show is a start, a new album and a full tour is another.
[Watch] Third Man Records' Rolling Record Store
Oh Jackie, my Jackie. You're always coming up with ways to spread the vinyl loving and I adore you for that. This time Jack White and his Third Man Records team have put their pop up store on wheels and are calling it the Rolling Record Store. For those of us lucky enough to be heading down south to Austin for SXSW, the Rolling Record Store will be making its debut from the 16th-20th.
No word yet if there will be any special SXSW-only releases like they did for the LA + NYC TMR pop-up stores in the past, but we'll keep you posted of its awesomeness upon arrival to Austin, so keep your eyes peeled here!
[Listen] Wanda Jackson - "Thunder On The Mountain (feat. Jack White) (Bob Dylan cover)"
We told you awhile back that ol' Jackie White was working with The Queen of Rockabilly herself, Wanda Jackson. We've all been anxious to hear what collaborating with Jackie would sound like and if this is any sort of indication of what the rest of The Party Ain't Over will sound like, well, then I guess the party really has only just begun.
As Cover Me Songs reports, Jackie asked Bob Dylan what song Jackson should cover for her album and it was Dylan himself that suggested they do "Thunder On The Mountain".
As you may have already guessed, Jackie thew down some crazy guitar goodies for this track alongside some of his Raco-Weather buddies (Jack Lawrence and Patrick Keeler), his beautiful wife (Karen Elson), My Morning Jacket's Carl Bromel, Ashley Monroe and Jackson Smith.
The Party Ain't Over is available for pre-sale now on Third Man Records. The first 1000 pre-orders will include a limited edition Hatch Show print and there will be 100 limited fuschia colored LPs randomly inserted in true TMR style into the first 1000 pre-orders, so go get on that!
Enough gossip! Check out the track after the jump!
