#skoaradio 10/24/2015 liner notes
artist rendition of my convo with Alex from Kingswood after I shut the mic off post-interview.lol
Hey fam!
Things refuse to slow down in SKOA HQ, but I'm not complaining! I wrapped up CMJ with a day in Aussie Heaven where we interviewed KINGSWOOD prior to watching them totally kill it. THINGS I TALKED ABOUT ON THE SHOW THIS WEEK INCLUDE:
[Watch] Sam Sparro - "I Wish I Never Met You" (Video)
After four long years Sam Sparro is back! He's dropped a few tracks in the past few months (not in the US though, unfortunately) as we all anticipate his forthcoming sophomore album Return To Paradise, which follows up his 2008 self-titled release. Today we have the video for his latest single, "I Wish I Never Met You", which looks something straight out of Boardwalk Empire with its Prohibition-esque scenes directed by Mike Rosenthal.
Just this past weekend I ended my Record Store Day catching Mr. Sparro over at Highline Ballroom where he played a ton of the new material including this song. He intro'd a lot of songs explaining that he went through a really nasty breakup and wrote his way out of the bad place it had put him in. "I Wish I Never Met You" resonated well in the room and from the looks that the crowd was giving Sparro they had all felt the same way he did when he wrote this song.
Return To Paradise is slated for a June 11th release in the UK. No word on a US release yet. More on that in the coming months.
Also, please be patient with this video while it loads in all of it's non-geo-locking glory.
[Watch] Lyrics Born - "Coulda, Woulda, Shoulda (feat. Sam Sparro)"
Check out this funky little number from Lyrics Born featuring vocal stylings courtesy of the super talented Sam Sparro. "Coulda, Woulda, Shoulda" is from Lyrics Born's As U Were, which dropped late last year.
I love how this video makes me think of Soul Train, am I right?

[Download] Ok Go - "White Knuckles (Boys Like Us Remix) & (Sam Sparro Remix) "This Too Shall Pass (Ra Ra Riot Remix)"
Here's a fun little treat for you! There's an Ok Go promo disc floating around called Twelve Remixes Of Four Songs and because we love you guys we're going to toss a few of the remixes your way.
Two remixes are of "White Knuckles", one from Boys Like Us (aka Rostam Batmanglij of Vampire Weekend fame) and the other is from the well loved Sam Sparro, who is currently working with Theophilus London and Mark Ronson on a project called Chauffeur. The other track, "This Too Shall Pass" was remixed by Ra Ra Riot, whose album The Orchard drops tomorrow.
Enjoy!
