[Watch] Feistodon - "A Commotion" (Official Video)

Well isn't this a treat. Earlier in the year for Record Store Day Feist and Mastodon released a version of one anothers' tracks after a chance meeting on the BBC's Later... with Jools Holland. Mastodon tackled the Metals featuring track "A Commotion" whilst Feist took on Mastodon's "Black Tongue" from The Hunter. Today a video for "A Commotion" has hit the net and it's an interactive video that features a crossfade letting you manually flick between either version of the song. It's pretty darn cool and you can play with it over here.

[Watch] Mastodon - "Dry Bone Valley" (Official Video)

With Mastodon about to take the UK by storm along with the help of Dillinger Escape Plan in the coming month, the band have unleashed a rather trippy looking teaser for their new video. For The Hunter's track "Dry Bone Valley" and it uses the animation we've come to get used to in their promo over the past 6 months along with a little surprise at the end. As well as that this one has thrown in an extra few bucket loads of acid. See what you make of the tease at the top and keep your eyes peeled as beneath the trailer it says the full vid will premier on "Tuesday 1/23 at 4pm PST"?! Watch this space.

UPDATE: The official video can now be watched after the jump. That didn't take long, did it?! This video is even more trippy in the full version. Hot damn. My eyes hurt after watching it!

[News] Feist & Mastodon Releasing Split Single

I love it when stuff like this comes together. Remember a month or so ago when Mastodon and Feist played Later... with Jools Holland? During that performance apparently Feist and Brent Hinds were exchanging looks in the studio:

"Brent [Hinds] and I were nodding at each other, and he's like, 'Nice riff,' and I'm like 'Nice tone.' So backstage I'm thinking about letting these two worlds collide, how they should collide, so I'm like 'How about Metals meeting metal? Brent was like, 'Well, I do like that 'Bad in Each Other' song, I could see that.' Maybe now I will look into learning to cover 'Oblivion'… or anything off [The Hunter]. That album's amazing."As previously reported, Canadian indie-rock songstress Leslie Feist recently revealed her hopes to collaborate with metal titans Mastodon, following the two acts’ recent appearance on Later… with Jools Holland."

Now, Mastodon’s Troy Sanders has revealed some awesome news in a chat with MTV News Canada (via Pitchfork). Mastodon and Feist are to release a split single on Record Store Day in 2012. Seriously! Two whole piles of awesome coming together to release what will surely be a great little listen of their personal takes on one another's tracks. At the top of the page you can peep the interview with MTV News.
