[Watch] Danny Brown - "Jay-Dee's Revenge" (Official Video)
Danny Brown has garnered most of his attention over the last year or so, but even before that he was well versed in the Detroit rap scene, and, as such, had worked with the late and great J Dilla. Now, fittingly, Brown is set to appear on the compilation Rebirth of Detroit, where rappers deliver new raps over unreleased J Dilla instrumentals. Danny Brown's contribution is called "Jay-Dee's Revenge," and the accompanying video sees Brown delivering powerful, fiery verses over a grimy J Dilla beat. Check out the video above.
[Download] J Dilla - Donut Shop EP
As a thank you for all the support, Stones Throw has released a free download version of Donut Shop. A six track project that features three previously unreleased Dilla instrumentals (Safety Dance x Sycamore x Bars & Twists) and three unreleased instrumental versions of Dilla’s production for Mos Def, Q-Tip & Busta Rhymes. (Via 2DopeBoyz) We highly suggest any Dilla fan also pick up a physical copy of the EP here and support Dilla, Stones Throw and most importantly Ma Dukes.
Serato and Stones Throw have teamed with the J Dilla Estate for the official J Dilla Serato release, Donut Shop. This is 2 discs with six J Dilla tracks, 2 sides with Serato Control Tone (for use with Serato Scratch Live DJ software), and 2 donut slipmats in a package designed by Studio No.1. This will be released May 10th (the day after Mother’s day–what’s up Ma Dukes?).
The J Dilla tracks consist of three previously unreleased instrumentals selected by J.Rocc from the Dilla archives – “Safety Dance”, “Sycamore”, “Bars & Twists” – and three unreleased instrumental versions of Dilla’s production for Mos Def, Q-Tip and Busta Rhymes, each remastered by Elysian Masters who mixed and mastered J Dilla’s Donuts, The Shining and Ruff Draft albums.

[Download] Beach Boys vs Dilla - Pet Sounds: In The Key of Dee
The jist of this post comes to light mainly due to EMI's attempt to shut down the Wu Tang vs Beatles Mash Up by Tom Caruana and Tea Side Records. You may have came across the album back in January, when nearly every blog was raving about how wonderful this album is. The album got so popular that EMI, who holds the copyright on The Beatles' catalog , got word and started sending cease and desist letters (a la Danger Mouse and The Grey Album) in which the album got taken down from the Tea Side website. Unfortunately, due to the current situation, we are unable to post a direct link to the album and instrumentals. However, if you search on google you can pretty much run across the album or if you are on twitter do a subject search under #WuWednesday and you are sure to run across a post or 2.
But anyways we do have some good news. I recently came across this amazing album which is very reminiscent of Wu vs Beatles album and The Grey Album and its called Pet Sounds: In The Key of Dee by Bullion. This mashup takes the already awesome Beach Boys album Pet Sounds and remixes it in the style of the late great legend J Dilla. We highly recommend this album to anyone who is into the Beatles mashups. So check it out and enjoy!
