[Watch] Doomtree - "Beacon"

Team The Best Team aka Wings and Teeth aka Minneapolis hip hop collective Doomtree return with a brand new video off one of my favorite albums of 2011 No Kings. Although the album dropped back in November, the Doom Crew have been busy touring in support of their latest record and if you heard it in all its epicness you would understand why. But even with their crazy schedule the crew still finds time to put out some awesome videos like their latest steampunk themed visual for the No Kings' cut "Beacon" directed by Bo Hakala.

This dark and gritty video is one of my favorite videos that the collective have put out to date. Although it isn't Har Mar Superstar getting down(to his bare ass, literally) to some "Bangarang" karaoke, this video speaks for itself on how creative these group of artist are and also showcases the always beautiful Dessa, Sims looking like a crazed maniac while Mike Mictlan creeping around in the shadows which I call an all around win. But anyways, enough talk check the video out above and if you haven't already picked up No Kings (FOR SHAME) do so here.

If you still haven't caught the group on tour like myself (I know sad, right?) you still have a chance to catch them at the following events:

Doomtree Upcoming Tour Dates

6/16 – Minneapolis, MN – Rock The Garden

7/13 – Dour, Belgium - Dour Festival

7/20 – 7/22 - Seattle, WA - Capitol Hill Block Party

7/27 - Somerset, WI - Sound Town Music & Camping Festival at Somerset Amphitheater

8/4 – Chicago, IL – Lollapalooza

[Listen] Dessa - "Palace"

The first lady of Doomtree returns with a new brand new album titled Castor, The Twin. The album is features 11 songs, ten of which have been previously released on previous Doomtree releases including Dessa's last record, A Badly Broken Code. However, this isn't a greatest hits album. For this project, Dessa rallied up an ensemble of "really effing talented" live players who have reshaped her former material with a combination of live instruments (Stand-up bass, viola, grand piano, vibraphone, mandolin, and timpani) for a more classical and organic sound.

Unlike the rest of album which consist of previously released songs, the albums final song titled "The Beekeeper" is a brand new song and is the first single from Dessa's next full-length, due in 2012. Take a listen to the first taste of the new album with the latest rendition of the song "Palace" below, which was originally featured on Paper Tiger's latest LP Made Like Us.

Castor, The Twin is set to release on October 4th, right before the next Doomtree crew record No Kings and the upcoming P.O.S. album. Looks like it's gonna be a Doomtree holiday season! Peep the tracklist below.

1. 551
2. Kites
3. Mineshaft
4. The Chaconne
5. Into The Spin
6. Dixon's Girl
