#skoaradio 11/14/2015 liner notes

"Kibbe, aren't you posting these liner notes kind of late?"

I'm late to getting this up. Sorry. Clearly from the amount of posts I've done so far today I'm trying tog get caught up. It's a nice problem to have with 3 fire shows in a week being the root of not being able to get #content out on time.

Anyway, this is going to be the last time I put together a separate playlist for the show. That's right, from now on you'll have to scramble to pull the songs from a playlist that I'm going to be changing on the regular. This is mutually beneficial because it will force me to get these out sooner rather than later so you can snatch up the goodies I share with you.

Hope you're having a great weekend fam!

#skoaradio 10/03/2015 liner notes

If you don't like music you can't sit with us.

It's chill af in NYC today. Literally. Like I'm having a hard time getting out of bed because I like my feet not being popsicles. I am writing this whilst I am still in bed. That said, the chill means that all the glorious fall albums are under way and CMJ is quickly approaching. I've also been on a steady streak of shows lately, which I will get up ASAP for you to see and be jealous of me. I'm also working to backdate all the show notes I kept saying I was upping and then rage quit because as you can see below these posts are intense as hell, you guys. OH WELL IT'S WORTH IT BECAUSE I LOVE DOING THIS!

Enjoy this weeks jams and be sure to grab the Spotify playlist below if you want to keep this mix around. As always, I'd love to hear from you so feel free to drop me a tweet and let me know what you thought of this week's show.

[Listen] Dale Earnhardt Jr Jr - "James Dean"

Earlier today Detroit duo Dale Earnhardt Jr Jr unveiled a new track titled "James Dean". From the looks of their recent tweets, the song is merely a one off and not a kickoff single for a new album. A bit of a bummer in that regards, but this song will more than hold you over if you've been itching for new music from them.
Have a listen to "James Dean" below.

[News] Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr. Announce Sophomore Album, Due Out in October

Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr. have owned my headphones these past few months, as their Patterns EP is played, repeated, enjoyed, repeated again, etc., etc. Each of its four songs are outstanding in their own way. "If You Didn’t See Me (Then You Weren’t On The Dancefloor)" is incredible fun, so upbeat and energetic, "Dark Water" revels in its odd tone and atmosphere, "Hiding" shines with anthemic harmonies and "Habits" is brimming with charm. Imagine my excitement when the duo announced another full-length album.

The Speed of Things is DEJJ's follow-up to their 2011 debut, It's A Corporate World. The Detroit hope, through the album's thirteen songs, to touch on a major aspect of modern culture: the Internet. They were heavily inspired by the Internet-focused nature of society, the obsessions that form around it and how that affects us.

It's a record that means a great deal to us, as it focuses on the size and speed of the world today. Everything is moving faster and faster as we are all much more connected by the global central nervous system that is the internet. Often it feels like when one realizes what they wish to do, it's impossible to know where to begin due to the scale of everything. We’re a generation of false starts."

The Speed of Things will be released on October 8th, and features two previously released tracks, "If You Didn’t See Me (Then You Weren’t On The Dancefloor)" and "Hiding." Watch the video for the former below.

The Speed of Things Tracklist:
01. Beautiful Dream
02. Run
03. Knock Louder
04. If You Didn’t See Me (Then You Weren’t On The Dancefloor)
05. I Can’t Help It
06. Hiding
07. Beautiful Dream (Reprise)
08. Mesopotamia
09. Dark Water
10. Don’t Tell Me
11. Gloria
12. A Haunting
13. War Zone

[Watch] Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr. Get Colorful in the Video for "If You Didn't See Me (Then You Weren't On The Dancefloor)"

Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr.'s new clip for "If You Didn't See Me (Then You Weren't On The Dancefloor)" is all kinds of fun. Pursued by a pair of fumbling cops (played by actors John Ennis and Jay Johnston), DEJJ stay hiddden by painting themselves to match with patterns on walls. As the search continues, the police arrive at a club called The Dancefloor where Daniel Zott and Joshua Epstein are performing. Not ones to deny the power of dance, they join the colorful party and forget all about the misdeeds of the band. Who says that cops can't have a good time?

[Watch] Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr. Perform New Song "War Zone" on Conan

God damn, how did I almost miss this?! SKOA favorites Dale Earnardt Jr. Jr. performed on Conan last week, and it was awesome. Bringing their high-energy sound to Conan O'Brien's show, the duo performed two songs.

The first was "If You Didn't See Me (Then You Weren't On The Dancefloor)," from their Patterns EP that released last April. It sounds fantastic live, especially with the full live suite. Next up was a web exclusive performance of a brand new song titled "War Zone." The track is from DEJJ's upcoming sophomore album and was a great showcase for their ever-expanding sound. With glittering synths, trickling guitar licks, echoing harmones and a smooth saxophone, what's not to enjoy? Check out both performances below.
