[Watch] Crystal Castles - "Affection" (Official Video)
Crystal Castles have released an interesting visual to sit alongside "Affection". It's made up entirely of footage taken while they were on tour in South America. It's then been spliced together Stephen Agnew after Alice was filmed by Ethan, Crystal Castles were filmed by Chris Chartrand, the bands live drummer, and Ashley McMinn was filmed by Marc Pannozzo a long time Crystal Castles video collaborator. The result is a blur of intoxication and frantic performances. Perfect for the beautiful, moody melody of the track.
"Affection" is set for it's official release on the 10th of June in the UK and will feature bonus material. We'll let you know what that bonus material is as and when we have it!
[News] Governors Ball 2013 Announces Full Lineup, and It's Awesome
The Governors Ball Music Festival, which takes place every June on Randall's Island in NYC, has announced the lineup for the 2013 festival, and it's absolutely awesome. With headliners like Kanye West and Kings of Leon, the lineup goes from "meh" to "holy crap" very quickly. Continuing the awesomeness are Nas, Kendrick Lamar, Beach House, Grizzly Bear, The xx, Cut Copy, Animal Collective, Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros, Bloc Party, Local Natives, Crystal Castles, Dirty Projectors, Holy Ghost!, Death From Above 1979, Japandroids, and so many more. Of note, there's one name that is blacked out, which we're assuming will serve as a big announcement in the future.
Tickets for the three-day festival go on sale this Friday, January 25th. Below, you can watch the announcement video for the festival.
[Watch] Crystal Castles - "Sad Eyes" (Official Video)
Crystal Castles take us back to the early '90s with a VHS-style video for "Sad Eyes", which looks like it would fit perfectly on the MTV video rotation of yore. Using footage from recent performances by the duo, the Rob Hawkins and Marc Pannozzo-directed clip isn't the creepiest thing Crystal Castles have ever put out, but the ghostly, echoing voice of Alice Glass pairs well with the visuals on offer. Check it out above.
"Sad Eyes" is the latest single from the band's latest album (III), and will be released on February 25th.
[Listen] Crystal Castles - '(III)' (Full Album Stream)
The wait is over, and prior to its release you can enjoy the brand new album from Crystal Castles. It was earlier in the year in sunny Manchester with a performance at Parklife Festival that the ball began to roll and people began to get excited for new material. At that show in June they performed some brand new material for the crowd, and just 4 months later we have an entire album to wrap our ears around!
Check it out below and let us now what you think. Also look out for it when it's released next week and pick up a copy if you really like it and maybe we'll have (IIII) in a few years time.
[Listen] Crystal Castles - "Affection"
Recently I've heard Crystal Castles being mentioned a lot and because of that I've delved into their back catalogue for a listen, it was nice yesterday to see some brand new material surface online from their new album III. Titled "Affection" it follows up the previously heard "Wrath of God" and "Plague" and you can stream it below.
Their album is set for release digitally on November 5th and physically on November 6th.
[News] Crystal Castles Announces New LP, Drops New Single "Wrath Of God"
During the summer, Crystal Castles revealed that they would release a new album by September, but now that the month is coming to a close, there is no third album from the Toronto duo to be seen. That all changed this morning, though, when a press release announced that the pair's third LP, (III), will be released digitally on November 5th and physically on November 6th. The press release also came with the official album artwork (pictured above), a striking picture that was originally taken by Spanish photographer Samuel Aranda in Yemen. Speaking on the album, which was produced entirely by band member Ethan Kath, singer Alice Glass said:
Oppression is a theme, in general… A lot of bad things have happened to people close to me since II and it’s profoundly influenced my writing as I’ve realized there will never be justice for them. I didn’t think I could lose faith in humanity any more than I already had, but after witnessing some things, it feels like the world is a dystopia where victims don’t get justice and corruption prevails."
Along with the announcement of the album, the duo has put out a brand new single from the album titled "Wrath Of God". Preceded by the song "Plague", which now has an eery-as-hell music video, "Wrath Of God" is a dark, brooding array of synthesizers, all coming together in a pounding, pulsating apex. Stream and download the song below, and after the jump you can check out the band's recently updated tour schedule.

[Watch] Crystal Castles - "Plague" (Official Video)
Two months ago, Crystal Castles dropped the assaulting, electrogoth cut "Plague", a bombastic example of what we could expect from the duo's upcoming third LP. Now, we've got some visuals to go along with the pulsating electronic cut. Directed by Ivan Grbin, the video focuses on a seemingly possessed woman flailing her arms around in a subway tunnel. At the peak of intensity, the video changes focus to a woman in a ballet studio, giving the video an unnerving and disturbing atmosphere. Watch the replay above.
Crystal Castles have also announced through their Facebook that they will be releasing a new single titled "Wrath of God" this Wednesday.
