[Watch] Phases - "I'm In Love With My Life" (Official Video)
I am a sucker for electro-pop so it's no shocker here that I took to LA quartet Phases baaaasically immediately. This was especially the case with their track, "I'm In Love With My Life", which is one of three that the band have unveiled from their forthcoming album. Honestly, if you're not in love with your life after the first spin of this tune, then maybe you need to book an intense partying session with Andrew WK to work through your issues. Seriously (well, sort of anyway). It's as bright and bubblegumtastic as it is infectious. At any rate, if anyone from the foursome looks familiar to you at all that's because peppered amongst the lineup are former members of Rilo Kiley, Phantom Planet, and The Like. You may have also known them in their former incarnation as JJAMZ.
I am heartbroken to say that I won't be able to make it out next Tuesday (7/21) to their show at The Studio at Webster Hall. If I could clone myself so I could be there AND at Prospect Park Bandshell for Interpol with Sprout I would be all over this. If you're in the NYC area you should definitely come out. If you're not in the greater NYC area, the band is on the road in North America through mid-August, so head over to their website and see if they're coming soon to a town near you.
You should check out their other two tracks as well: "Betty Blue" and "Cooler".
[News] Y Not Festival Announces Initial Line-Up
As we've mentioned in the past few weeks, there are tonnes of festivals announcing their line-ups at the moment and all of them seem to be delivering some stellar line-ups. We have a reformed Outkast playing tonnes of dates the world over, Arctic Monkeys for Reading and Leeds, Snoop Dogg at Parklife, Beck at Bestival. Summer 2014 is already looking like one for the books.
Keeping it real in the Derbyshire Countryside though, the ever growing Y-Not Festival has announced it's first few headliners and a bunch of acts playing their tents across the first weekend of August 1st-3rd. Dizzee Rascal and White Lies top the bill for the main stage, with some exciting looking names throughout the initial announcement. If you're up for a party, I'm sure Andrew W.K. will be happy to help out with that. Or maybe you're feeling a little more chilled, in which case Newton Faulkner can serenade you. Last year's Y Not was their biggest yet and by the looks of it the team their are planning something extra special for 2014. I'd highly recommend if you're in the UK and wanting to check out a grass roots festival with a really nice, relaxed atmosphere, make it this one.
If you're in a band and fancy playing the festival, head over to their Facebook page for more info and you could be doing just that; playing Y Not!
Tickets are on sale now and you can grab them here. Check out the announcement video below for the full line-up though.

[Watch] Andrew W.K. - "It's Time To Party" (Live on Conan)
"PARTY TIP: Our whole life has been leading up to this moment. Now let's celebrate it." If you follow Andrew WK on twitter you're probably used to these little pieces of party advice but last night Andrew and his live band brought the party tips to the homes of many with a performance on Conan. Celebrating the 10th anniversary of I Get Wet he went hell for leather with a performance of "It’s Time to Party" and it was awesome. Check it out at the top and you can grab a copy here.
[News] Nardwuar the Human Serviette Set to Release Album in March
When I first saw this story circling around a few days ago I couldn't quite wrap my head around it. It's hard to deny Nardwuar has incredible interview skills and his research methods are unique; some of the things he finds/knows about the artists that he interviews is insane. N.E.R.D.'s Pharrell enjoyed his interview so much he rang Jay-Z and told him that he had to get an interview with Nardwuar whenever he visited town. That did happen once upon a time, and even though Jay-Z looked to be a little too high to fully respect the effort put in by the Human Serviette, it was still insane to see.
To the story in hand, Nardwuar is planning to release a collection titled Busy Doing Nothing and it'll feature new music from the likes of Franz Ferdinand & The Cribs. Two UK bands I'm eager to hear new material from. As well as them, party lover Andrew W.K. will be on the release and Kate Nash too. Nardwuar’s own band The Evaporators are also set to appear on the collection. It's set for release on the 6th of March via Mint Records
If you're unaware of who the heck this Nardwuar is take a look at the video after the jump in which he chats with Pharrell and Shay of N.E.R.D.

[Watch] Matt & Kim, Andrew W.K. and Soulja Boy - "I'm A Goner" (Video)
And just like that, Converse not only enrolled this unlikely combination of artists but they also got them all together to film the visuals for it too. Crazy. The video is directed by Rodney Ascher, and it depicts all four artists Matt & Kim, Andrew W.K. and Soulja Boy rising from the dead. They're in a word, goners, but hey, that doesn't mean you can't party does it? It's Andrew W.K for Pete's sake, he'll party no matter what. And that means even if a mic stand is protruding from his lower abdomen.

This new collaboration from Converse follows up the last 2 summer collaboration, "All Summer" featuring KiD CuDi, Best Coast and Rostam Batmanglij from Vampire Weekend and "My Drive Thru" which featured The Strokes' Julian Casablancas, N*E*R*D and Santigold.
