[Watch] Pearl Jam 20 Highlights Featuring: Julian Casablancas, Josh Homme & Chris Cornell
Pearl Jam played a show over the weekend to celebrate their staying together for 20 years. Not only were the big PJ headlining but the likes of Queens of the Stoneage, The Strokes, Mudhoney and Temple of the Dog made appearances (reformed). It seems like this was the show to be at over the weekend and the guys over at CoS have found some of the best bits for us to enjoy. And boy is there a lot of them. Chris Cornell came on stage to help perform a cover of Mother Love Bone, Julian Casablancas put his vox to good use on "Not For You. Next up, Josh Homme front man of QOTSA came on stage to help on "In The Moonlight" and then Liam Finn, The Swell Season’s Glen Hansard, and Mudhoney’s Dan Peters joined the band for “Who You Are”. All in all night one of the PJ20 festival was a complete success wouldn't you say!?
As well as all of the above, Josh Homme helped Strokes put "New York City Cops" and then later Eddie Vedder joined QOTSA on stage for perform "Make It Wit Chu" and "Little Sister". So, without further ado, first video at the top is Temple of the Dog performing "Reach Down" with the rest of the footage labelled after the jump.

[Listen] Grinderman - "Mickey Mouse and the Goodbye Man" (Joshua Homme Remix)
First UNKLE, Cats Eyes and The National take a crack at remixing tracks from Nick Cave's latest Grinderman album, Grinderman II. Now Them Crooked Vultures/Queens of The Stone Age frontman Josh Homme takes an eerie approach to the album's opening track "Mickey Mouse and the Goodbye Man."
According to SPIN, Homme and Grinderman's collaboration stems from a chance meeting in a Los Angeles diner last year, after a Grinderman gig. Nick Launay, Grinderman's producer, helped facilitate the remix, and, according to spokesperson, Cave and Grinderman are "very happy" with Homme's take.
The remix feels like a creepy campfire tell at the beginning, followed by an explosion of that desert rock style that we love and expect from Homme. Check out the track in the player below and make sure you pick up the single when it drops as a download and 12" vinyl on June 14.
[Listen] Josh Homme & Alain Johannes - Aqua Unit Patrol Squad One Theme
Pitchfork just let loose the new Aqua Teen....excuse me Aqua Unit Patrol Squad One theme performed by Queens of the Stone Age's Josh Homme and Queens/Them Crooked Vultures collaborator Alain Johannes. Check it out in the player below, its pretty meaty. The new Aqua series starts on May 8th.

[Watch] Josh Homme & Troy Van Leeuwen Interview With Explore Music
Check out an interesting interview with Josh Homme and Troy Van Leeuwen of Queens Of The Stone Age with Explore Music which touches on a range of interesting topics. First off it touches on the time when Josh died and how he didn't like talking about it initially. Putting a little more simply Josh compared it to offering someone something unappetising; "this tastes like shit, taste it."
He touches on how happy he was to receive some balloons from Troy once he was brought back from the dead. On a personal note he says "the saddest thing you can ever see is an unblown balloon." In contrast, though it's weird to see Josh so serious and humbled by the whole situation and he says it took him a while to want to come back to music. He almost called it a day!
Then the interview turns into a bit of good chat and Josh and Troy bounce off of one another touching on their lack of a record label and how awesome that is! The idea of a visual album for their next project as "cool has no pricetag", which could be interesting also.
As mentioned yesterday Josh performs on the new Arctic Monkeys album and he says how excited he was to hear 5 or 6 tracks from Alex and Co and pays a huge compliment to him stating "he's one of the best lyriscists I've ever stood next to." And the interview continues with questions tweeted by fans from the world over. An entertaining and interesting watch.
Part one is available for you to watch at the top and after the jump is part two. If you want a recent insight into the band and what's going on I'd advise putting 30 minutes of your day aside to check these out.

[News] Josh Homme To Feature On New Arctic Monkeys Album, 'Suck It And See'
If you're and avid Arctic Monkeys fan or Josh Homme fan you may be aware that Josh helped produce a few tracks on the Arctics last album Humbug. The album had the tell tale mark of Josh's hands all over it. The haunted guitar lines and echoes thrown in with weird time signatures and eerie key changes. It was quite frankly pretty damn good! In an interview with Q the band have let out that Josh had a hand on their hugely anticipated album Suck It And See. Josh lends his lungs to the track "All My Own Stunts" which we'll have to wait until June to hear, unless the band feel generous and give us some more full length previews before the release date.
According to Alex the album is a little different to what we'd normally expect from the band, and this is coming from him after the band left fans divided with the release of Humbug. In the same interview, Alex said that they "wanted it to be song-based this time...We used to always try and not go down that route before, because it had been done. But there's a reason why they're the classic structures." So maybe his song structures in his EP for Submarine will be a little preview into the methods and stylings the band and Alex are going for in the new LP? Only time will tell. (via NME)

[SXSW 2011] Queens of the Stone Age Play Their Debut @ La Zona Rosa
I get off a plane and get a cab to the hotel which is empty as Kibbe and Rocko have headed down town. I sit on the bed and slowly start to feel myself sink into the bed after being awake for 24 hours. QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE my mind shouts at me as I slowly begin to get comfy. And just like that I'm out of the door and headed to the convention centre to hook up with Rocko for the first time while Kibbe is off to the MTV Woodies to catch a glimpse of Dave Grohl, understandably, he's a sexy man! La Zona Rosa is the venue for Queens Of The Stone Age to make their stamping ground in Austin and as you walk into the venue there's a feeling of something special in the air. Opening up for them is J Mascis, Mini Mansions and Black Angels all who respectively individually put their mark on the evening. The atmosphere was beginning to simmer down a little and then Joey Castillo steps up to the drum kit slowly followed by the ginger giant that is Josh Homme, who takes his position centre stage with his Maton BB slung around his neck ready to play us all what we've waited so long to hear. Their debut, front to back. This was going to be a night for the books.

The band barely gets comfortable in their positions before Josh's guitar comes screaming out of the speakers and the crowd is thrown back on their heels as the distortion and volume dabs can only mean one thing, the intro of "Regular John". And upon this the room begins to turkey neck and get their groove on. I look on open mouthed, after having being awake for far too long, I'm stood in Austin and QOTSA are literally 10 feet away from me at a show that's not even full to the back of the room. Is this real life?! "Avon" follows naturally, opening up a break for Joey to tentatively do the infamous drum fill 3/4 of the way through.
Songs I thought I'd never get seen played live are unfolding in front of my very eyes and it's hard to soak in the lights, the band, the atmosphere. Your senses are left bewildered as the wall of sound keeps hitting you slap in the face. The band swagger their way through the amazing debut album while Josh's vocals soar through the mix taking us all to a desert somewhere where the sun is setting and tomorrow brings another sun. The album seems to have been played before to long rocking through great tracks like their latest limited edition vinyl "How To Handle A Rope" along with "Mexicola" onto "Hispanic Impressions" and "The Bronze". Before I know it they are off of the stage and Josh has necked half a bottle of vodka and chain smoked his way off of the stage while the audience watches on in disbelief.
We shouldn't of worried though, as just minutes later the band return to the stage and bang out some of their greatest hits and an all time favourite of mine "Make It Wit' Chu". Opening the encore with "Turnin' The Screw" following up with "Misfit Love" and the jam at the beginning of the song had a the whole band swaggering around the stage in a groove only these guys can bring from within. To my happiness they carried on through the hits playing an array of fan favourites (if you don't personally class the whole frikking entire S/T as your favourite!) including "Little Sister" and finally closing the set with "Go With The Flow". Done.
Before waving his goodbyes to the audience, Josh, who'd now drank the best part of a bottle of Kettle One stumbled towards the crowd just feet away and passed the bottle to an unassuming girl. Little did we know Johnny, the lucky SOB, over at Antiquiet would end up taking said bottle back to his hotel, but we're not jealous. Honest. All in all a perfect introduction into not only the first Queens of the Stone Age album that hit the worlds eardrums some 13 years ago but to SXSW Music for the SKoA family.

[News] Josh Homme Turns Down Nick Oliveri's Offer To Reunite QOTSA
According to an interview with UGO.com Nick Oliveri has shed light on the rumours that were sparked last year when this picture appeared of Josh and Nick hanging out in LA. Rumours were flying around like wildfire that Nick would possibly return to Queens Of The Stone Age and his role as their bass player. They were quickly shot down though and in the interview Nick says he and Josh are now on good terms and that as far as he knows Josh is "proud of the Kyuss thing as far as [he knows]" which is good to know.
In relation to Nick ever rejoining QOTSA Nick apparently asked Josh at the Benefit Show for Brian O'Connor last year saying he "saw them play [the] benefit for Brian in L.A., from the Eagles. I was down there and I mentioned to them, "Why don't I come up and do 'Millionaire' or something, and sing it and not play bass?" He was like, "Nah, I don't think that's a good idea yet." It's kind of in his court for stuff like that. I don't think he wants to give anybody the wrong idea. I don't necessarily know if that would happen. And he's got a good band - he's taking the band in the direction he wants it to go. Hey, it's all good". So Josh doesn't want to give the Nick lovers false hope that Nick would ever return in the future or maybe just not right at this very moment.
The pair seem to be on good terms now as Nick and Mondo Generator recorded their latest record in his studios and Nick closes the interview by speaking of the chemistry him and Josh used to have, "I know my songs that I write are definitely better with his [Josh's] hand on them, and his parts put into them, and his production on them, too. But you know, I don't know if he necessarily feels that way about my input on his! [Laughs] He's taken the band in a direction he wants it to go, and that's cool. I kind of feel that Queens is a totally different band now than what it was." And I think that's a fair point Queens has had a lot of guys come in and play on records and live, and right now the band Josh has by his side is a solid one, if their performance at SXSW last week was anything to go by fans will have a tight performance to enjoy when the band tour their self titled in the coming months. But more on that later. For now, let's put to rest the idea that Nick will be playing with Queens Of The Stone Age again any time soon.
