[Watch] Arctic Monkeys Perform At London 2012 Olympic Opening Ceremony
Last night the eyes of the world were on London for the opening ceremony of the Olympics and the creation of Oscar-winning film maker, Danny Boyle. I must say I was pretty impressed by the whole thing. What really got our excitement going was the use of music in the show. Emeli Sandé made an appearance before Dizzee Rascal appeared from a home in the middle of the arena. Two Door Cinema Club and Paul McCartney also made an appearance. A highlight for me was Arctic Monkeys who performed their ever popular debut single "I Bet You Look Good on the Dancefloor" (via) before taking on a cover of The Beatles' "Come Together". See the rip roaring performance of "Dancefloor" at the top with the Beatles' cover after the jump. I am a proud Brit right now, or as Kibbe calls me, her Britch.
[News] Crystal Castles Announce New Album for September, Fall Tour Dates
Crystal Castles very recently dropped a brand new track titled "Plague", and now they have unveiled some important details about the album it'll appear on. The duo's third studio LP, which is currently untitled, will be released in late September via Universal Republic/Casablanca, according to NME. The album was reportedly recorded and self-produced by the duo in Warsaw, and is now being mixed and mastered in London.
When speaking to NME, Ethan Kath stated that the new album will sound very much like their past work: "There's no departure. We like how we sound. We don't wanna change." Alice Glass went further to say, "There’s lots of themes, but feeling, like, oppressed… A lot of things not personally happening to us, since the past record, but people we know kind of profoundly influenced everything. Like, I didn’t think I could lose faith in humanity any more than I already had, but after witnessing some things, it just… the world is a dystopia. I’m on step away from being a vigilante. I’ve thought about it."
On top of the reveal, Crystal Castles have announced a tour for this fall with HEALTH, which starts at the end of September and goes through till early November. Check out the full tour schedule after the jump.

As Damon Albarn nears the 2012 London Summer Olympics, where he and the rest of Blur will perform at the closing ceremony, he's already planned what he will do afterwards. One month after the closing ceremony performance, Albarn will be joined by numerous artists to form the Africa Express collective, who will tour around the UK by train (it seems everyone is doing this nowadays). According to Pitchfork, Africa Express comprises of Albarn, Amadou & Miriam, Charli XCX, Jack Steadman of Bombay Bicycle Club, Kano, Baloji, and more. The collective has six scheduled stops throughout their UK rail tour, but they will have "pop-up performances at railway stations, schools, factories, offices, shopping centers, and homes" and will even be writing new material together along the way.
