[News] Daft Punk Releasing Ten Minute Remix of "Get Lucky" Next Month
Daft Punk never remix their own music. That will all change next month. Thomas Bangalter spoke to BBC Radio 1 last month, saying, "we never mix ourselves, that’s something we feel we’re interested in doing this time." Seems we'll be hearing one of these Random Access Memories remixes very soon.
According to DIY, Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo are prepping a 10 minute and 31 second remix of their funky single "Get Lucky." As well, there is an Amazon.com pre-order for it with a July 16th release date. Fingers crossed Daft Punk fans!
[Listen] Toro Y Moi Remixes Disclosure's "You & Me"
Disclosure's dancey single "You & Me" is quick-tempoed and energetic, but Chaz Bundick (aka Toro Y Moi) decided to shake that up entirely with his remix of the song. Slowing things down considerably the remix sizzles with erratic percussion and glitchy vocal samples, taking that energetic feel and melting it down across five minutes. Stream it below.
[Listen] AlunaGeorge Remixes Dirty Projectors' "The Socialites"
Dirty Projectors' Swing Lo Magellan highlight "The Socialites" gets the remix treatment. Today, the band released a 12" single featuring three remixes, including Hot Chip's Joe Goddard, FaltyDL and AlunaGeorge. You can now stream AlunaGeorge's sensual interpretation of the song.
The British duo take the original and give it significant tonal shift. The remix begins with soft sexuality, as echoing synths and sweeping chimes draw you into a night of romance. Things amp up quite quickly as AlunaGeorge twist the pitch of Amber Coffman's vocals and drop some bombastic distorted bass before bringing it back to a relaxed atmosphere. The remix has great breadth, but keeps it tight and enticing. Solid work. Stream it below along with the original.
[Listen] Giraffage Remixes Stardust's "Music Sounds Better With You"
As the May 21st release date of Random Access Memories approaches, I've been digging into all my old Daft Punk records in anticipation. That also includes all of the duo's side projects, like Together and Stardust. Seems like I'm not the only one doing so. San Francisco producer Giraffage takes Stardust's famous single "Music Sounds Better With You" and gives it a fresh spin, turning what was originally a disco-inspired house banger into a chilled-out atmospheric cut. Consider this classic track revitalized.
[Listen] Disclosure Remixes Artful Dodger and Zoe Kypri's "No I Turn You On"
Disclosure pay homage to their UK garage forebears Artful Dodger, whose electronic dance beats inspired the London brother duo. Taking Artful Dodger's 2000 single "Please Don't Turn Me On" the pair have given it a crisp sheen, turning the soulful track into a pulsating dancefloor hit. On top of that, they've brought in London singer Zoe Kypri to add her vocals, providing a perfect complement to the lyrics of the original. Check out the remix, titled "No I Turn You On," below.
Disclosure's debut album Settle drops on June 3rd.
[Listen] Dirty Projectors Remix Phoenix's "Entertainment"
Phoenix's "Entertainment" gets the remix treatment once again. After getting drastically reworked by Grizzly Bear, fellow New Yorkers Dirty Projectors step up to the plate. The band chose to give the single a glitchy rehashing, highlighting the vocals amidst trippy instrumentation. Add in handclaps and you've got a solid remix. Stream it below.
[Listen] Ryan Hemsworth Drops Remix of Backstreet Boys' "Show Me The Meaning Of Being Lonely"
Ryan Hemsworth brightens this already bright Monday with a remix of Backstreet Boys' "Show Me The Meaning Of Being Lonely." Now no one has any reason to feel embarrassed about singing some BSB today, and shame on you if you were in the first place. All it costs to download the remix is a tweet, and if you don't want to do that Ryan has some advice:

[Listen] Grizzly Bear - "Sleeping Ute" (Nicolas Jaar Remix)
Nicolas Jaar's collaborative 12" for Record Store Day sold insanely fast, and rightfully so. The release saw Jaar collaborating with Grizzly Bear and Brian Eno. But it's when you listen to Jaar's remix of Grizzly Bear's "Sleeping Ute" that you fully understand. The remix is intricate, subtle in its execution and simply memserizing. As always, Jaar delivers.
