[Listen] Wu Lyf - "T R I U M P H"
I had the privilege of catching Wu Lyf live a few times over the past few years. One of which was a large homecoming show in Manchester under a bridge which made for a magical evening. I was quite sad to see then over the weekend that it seems the local lads have called it quits. Lead singer Ellery Roberts posted up a new track online along with a reason for wanting to end the band and move on in a rather thought provoking statement.

The news comes just weeks after the band had a similar left to right when they posted up a picture minus Ellery to their Facebook page (which actually appears to have been deleted now!). But as of writing this Wu Lyf are Wu Dead.

I've said it before but I'll say it again, I envy American late night TV. The amount of great live bands the likes of Conan, J-Fal and Letterman get is crazy, and it's every night! OK, us Brits have Jools Holland part of the year but other than that we wait around for a weekly talk-show that may or may not have a half decent band playing it. The reason I mention this (again) is because last night Manchester boys done good, Wu Lyf, took to the stage at the Ed Sullivan theater to make their network television debut on Letterman to which David says "we couldn't be happier". Wu Lyf put in a rousing, hair raising performance of "Heavy Pop" from their '11 debut, Go Tell Fire To The Mountain. Peep the performance at the top courtesy of The Audio Perv. Not quite sure if Letterman is impressed or not given his comment about the drummer at the end.

Early next year, Manchester rockers Wu Lyf will be hitting the road in support of their debut album Go Tell Fire to the Mountain. After performing seven shows for Laneway Festival, as well as a show in their hometown of Manchester, the band will be heading across the U.K. and eventually stateside for a seven show tour from April 17th to the 28th. The U.S. portion of the tour includes shows in San Francisco, New York, Los Angeles, Boston, Washington, D.C., and Brooklyn. You can check out all of the band's 2012 tour dates after the jump.

[Watch] Wu Lyf Visit KEXP, Cover Papa M's "Krusty"
It's hard to not say things like "[insert band name] had a pretty good year" yada yada as the year of 2011 draws to a close and the Christmas lights and decorations sparkle everywhere you look, but for Wu Lyf, I think it's a valid statement. Popping up from what seemed like nowhere, the Manchester band have risen to the consciousness of many this year after releasing their full length debut Go Tell Fire to the Mountain.
They've played dates across the world and who knows what the future may hold for these raspy voiced Mancunions. Recently during a visit to KEXP they delivered performances of some of their album tracks along with a not so expected cover of David Pajo track "Krusty". These boys seem to have an obscure musical knowledge but we think that's a good thing. Peep their full performance at the top which includes renditions of "Spitting Blood", "14 Crowns for me & Your Friends", the aforementioned "Krusty" Cover and "Heavy Pop".

Wu Lyf recently embarked upon a small tour and on one of their trips to Paris La Blogothéque was there to film the entire thing. This clip shows the band performing Go Tell Fire on The Mountain tracks "Heavy Pop" and "Summas Bliss" and it gives you a little sneak peak into what you may have missed this time around on tour. For me, seeing these guys live put them in a whole different light, a better light, so if you do get the chance, check them out.

Manchester's Wu Lyf have offered up the official video for their new single "We Bros" and it features a lot of running around in a manic kind of way to escape some kind of monster/beast. You know the type of running you do when you find out you've won the lottery say, or that you're having breakfast for dinner and you want to go tell all of your friends how awesome that is so instead of calling each of the, you run to each of their houses individually. That kind of running. Stay tuned right until the end though or you just might miss the twist. Or maybe not. I don't know. Not saying there is a twist just that you should probably watch the whole video. You know?

Wu Lyf recently wrapped up their UK tour which I didn't managed to catch this time around. However, last time I saw them I was thoroughly impressed by the Manchester boys, but maybe it was because it was a big homecoming gig under a bridge to provide appropriate reverb, who knows. I've heard mixed reviews of their recent outing but that doesn't mean to say they didn't throw in some surprises for fans at their shows. At the top you can peep them covering Chris Isaak's "Wicked Game". Wu Lyf will always sound like Wu Lyf but it's a pretty decent cover front to back. See what you think above via 130BPM.
[Listen] Wu Lyf - "We Bros" (Young Montana? Remix) x (S.Maharba Remix)
Yesterday we posted the great new single version of Wu Lyf's anthemic "We Bros" and today we get to have a listen to not one, but two tripped out remixes. The first one is a big beat and steel drum filled jam from Young Montana? Taking the song and turning it on it's head whilst using the vocals to add that sing along and fist in the air quality.
Secondly is a remix from S. Maharba and the London based producer has kept the guitar riff in place whilst adding a big hitting bass drum that kind of glitches up the intro but it's a cool trip from start to finish that will take your mind to another place, albeit a place filled with matrix like qualities where people can bend the realms of time and space. Both remixes are great and worth 8 minutes of your day.
