[Listen] The Vines - "Future Primitive"
The Vines are set to release the follow up to 2008's Melodia and will be the bands fifth studio LP! Today we have a treat for you, down at the bottom you can stream the next single from the album. The song we have from you is the title track of the album, "Future Primitive" and was first debuted live last year. The band had in fact completed the album mid 2010 but were waiting for a label to back them to release it. Step Forward Sony Music Australia and here we are. A brand new track for you to digest on this most fruitful of humpdays.
Future Primitive is set to hit stores on June 3rd so keep your eyes peeled in the coming weeks for more news and info on the release. We've previously got to see the bands homage to Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World in their video for "Gimme Love". Most likely a few more sneaky peeks will be obtained prior to the release of the album. It's already been 5 months since we first heard "Gimme Love" so it can't be long until more material services.
[Listen] The Vines Cover Gorillaz' "Clint Eastwood" On Triple J's Like A Version
Austrailia's own The Vines, stopped by the Triple J studio to perform a short acoustic session for Triple J's Like A Version series. The band performed their latest single "Gimme Love" from their upcoming album Future Primative and also performed a cover of Gorillaz first hit single "Clint Eastwood." Well, this came as a bit of a surprise. Firstly brand new material from The Vines, which you may have missed back in January when we posted it, so get excited. Secondly they've offered up this video to accompany the track which is titled, "Gimme Love". Notice anything familiar? The Cartoon/comic like annotations to the band. The retro loading screen, or the animated instruments and general all round being thrown back on to the couch? No. Well you should, it's either paying the ultimate homage and compliment to what is one of SKoA's favourite films Scott Pilgrim Vs The World or a blatant rip off? Check it out for yourselves above and decide for yourselves. I'm putting my money on it being a compliment though.

The Australian Rockers are back, and they're back with a plan to break the US. Check out The Vines' new single "Gimme Love" which to me sounds like classic Vines guitar driven, fast paced music. It's the first track from the band since 2008 and is taken from their new album Future Primitive which should an appearance this year at some point (We have no concrete date for this as of yet though). Also, watch out for their cover of "Black Betty" which is set to appear on a Volkswagen TV Commercial in the very near future, which shoudl help them get a lot of attention over in the States.
