[Listen] YACHT - "I'll Be Your Mirror" (Velvet Underground & Nico Cover)
YACHT have been a little quiet bar their cover of Brigitte Fontaine's "Le Goudron" last month when they announced a string of tour dates. Today we get another cover from the Portland band. They've taken on the Velvet Underground & Nico's "I'll Be Your Mirror". You can see what you think of the pretty great sounding cover below via The NJ Underground.
[Listen] The Kills - "Pale Blue Eyes" (Velvet Underground Cover)
With The Kills having released their awesome sounding studio album Blood Pressures last year they still keep offering up goodness for us! With the release of their recent single "The Last Goodbye" they put out a B-Side too which was a great sounding cover of the Velvet Underground track "Pale Blue Eyes" which featured on their self titled debut way back 1969. Check out how Alison and Jamie do below and grab the download too while your at it thanks to Domino Record Co.
[Listen] Feist Covers The Velvet Underground In Paris
Last month in Paris a group of talented musicians convened at the Days Off Festival in Paris and played a host of Velvet Underground tracks. As TwentyFourBit points out the band consisted of Colin Greenwood, the HotRats (which is made up of Nigel Godrich and Gaz Coombes and Danny Goffey from Supergrass), Soap&Skin and Air’s Nicolas Godin, who all pitched in for the Velvet Underground Revisited show. Taking up position centre stage for vocal duties was Feist who helped perform a great rendition of VU's "Femme Fatale". Give it a listen below via 24Bit.

[Watch] Fistful of Mercy Cover Bob Dylan, PJ Harvey and The Velvet Underground
Last year I was pretty excited when heard new of a new band called Fistful of Mercy consisting of Ben Harper, Joseph Arthur and Dhani Harrison. Their debut As I Call You Down was made available in October via Hot Records, and you can pick yourself up a copy over here.
The band were recieved with warm open arms and their live shows were also impressive out of a recording studio environment. You can see them in a live situation here, when they performed on Conan O'Brien's late night show where they perform lead single "Father's Son" with the help of RATM's Tom Morello.
Now, Their live show's consist of their debut but they have also played numerous covers on stage. As our friends over at TwentyFourBit have pointed out they do pretty good renditions of Bob Dylan’s 1975 Blood on the Tracks “Buckets of Rain” as well as PJ Harvey’s To Bring You My Love title track, and The Velvet Underground's “Pale Blue Eyes”. Check out the Dylan cover up top and the other two after the jump.
