2004 was a significant year for Coachella because it saw the just-reunited Pixies perform a phenomenal set, and, given that 11 years had passed since the band's breakup and their performance at the famed festival, it's a standout moment in the band's history. Fitting then that they have released a free EP titled Coachella '04 to tide everyone over between the two weekends of this year's Coachella. The EP includes live recordings from the '04 set, including “U-Mass,” “Monkey Gone To Heaven,” “Hey,” and “Caribou.” Download it for the cost of an email address below.

Brooklyn-based musician Jason Drake, aka Cassettes Won't Listen, is continuing his love of '80s alt-rock with yet a cover of one of the decade's most influential bands, Pixies. This time around, he has let loose his take on the Pixies' "Hey" from their 1989 album Doolittle. The end result is a fantastic display of Drake's instrumentation skills, and despite not sounding very much like the original the song is a great listen, so check it out below, courtesy of Slicing Up Eyeballs.
