[News] Carl Barat Extinguishes More Libertines Reunion Rumours
Yesterday the internet was rife with rumours of yet another Libertines reunion happening in 2012. We should have seen through the newspapers source really. 'A friend of the musician' etc etc. You know the types of stories we're dealing with here, but none the less, Carl decided to vocalise his feelings on the rumours once more. The Daily Mirror was the tabloid to run the story of a Doherty/Barat reunion but Carl took to his Facebook page to simply state: "So that 'story' in the Mirror yesterday? Complete fabrication, folks."
Can we all accept that this isn't going to happen again unless maybe you offer Pete £2M again.
[Listen] Members of Super Furry Animals, Libertines, Arctic Monkeys New Charity Project
At this time of year there tends to be a charity single or 2 but this isn't a Christmas special. The likes of Super Furry Animals' Gruff Rhys, Arctic Monkeys drummer Matt Helders along with the ex bassist from Arctics Andy Nicholson. The Libertines' Carl Barât is also involved, along with Babyshambles bassist Drew McConnell, Tim Burgess of the Charlatans and Eliza Doolittle have all teamed up and started something a little special.
Under the moniker of The Bottletop Band, the new charity project teams up Brazilian musicians with the said UK artists above. The group are set to release an album titled Dream Service next year on April 11th. You don't have to wait that long to hear the project though. Take a listen to the first single titled "Fall of Rome", which you can download for free now. You can also watch some in studio footage up top and the single is down the bottom. Proceeds from the project go to education and employment projects in Africa, Brazil and the UK all through the Bottletop organisation. (Via NME/Pitchfork)
