[SKOA Presents] SXSW 2011 Axis of Audio Party

With a lovefest that could only have ignited courtesy of the internet, Some Kind of Awesome, Antiquiet, TwentyFourBit, Rock It Out! Blog and Consequence of Sound have joined forces under the moniker Axis of Audio with help from Knuckle Rumbler to throw an [unofficial] SXSW 2011 party of epically awesome proportions.

That's right, friends! If you'll be in Austin and want to catch the big event, mark your calendars for Saturday, March 19th 2011 from 12pm - 8pm at The Rumbler Lounge, located at 402 E. 6th Street. This party has been in the works for quite awhile and we think our hard work has really paid off.

We are jumping up and down in excitement to announce this ridiculously awesome lineup, which includes:

Greenhornes

A Place to Bury Strangers

Astronautalis + P.O.S.

Ezra Furman & The Harpoons

Le Butcherettes

Jukebox The Ghost

Hollerado

The Gay Blades

Fences

Dirty Ghosts

The Silent Comedy

Sabrosa Purr

God-Des & She

In addition to all of these insanely great bands, we'll also be giving away two pairs of passes to San Bernardino, CA’s Paid Dues Festival, which features P.O.S. and the highly anticipated reunion of Black Star.

So if your head has finally stopped spinning, make sure you head over to do512.com and RSVP if you wanna go!

[Listen] The Greenhornes - "Better Off Without It"

Earlier this year the rumour mill started to churn and talks of  a new Greenhornes album began to surface. Now courtesy of Spin we have new material and details of a new album! β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜… (Yes it's really called that, or if you like you can call it "Four Stars")  is the bands first full-length studio release in eight years. It's penned for release on November the 9th via Jack White's Third Man Records. Below you can check out album track "Better Off Without You",which is a nice little taster for all you fans out there. It's a nice song with a catchy chorus that'll get you singing along to it in no time.

Lawrence tells Spin that "It's not a straight up rock record like we've done in the past. There's harpsichord and more piano, backward tape loops, and other stuff like that." Is anyone else excited?! Get your Greenhornes fix below and start marking off the calendar, I know I will be.
