[News] More bands added to Reading & Leeds Festival

Reading & Leeds Festival are shaping up to be one of the highlights of the summer this year. Earlier in the year the festival announced headliners Biffy Clyro, Eminem and Green Day along with System of a Down, Foals, Chase and Status, Nine Inch Nails and Fall Out Boy. Joining the line-up for the August Bank Holiday will be Hawk Eyes, Wavves, Sharks, Mount Kimbie, China Rats, Darwin Deez, Don Broco, Deaf Havana, The Bronx, Gallows, EarlWolf, A-Trak, Willy Moon, Fenech-Soler, Dillon Francis, Jagwar Ma, Alkaline Trio and a load more. Seriously if you have no plans for the last weekend in August, get yourself a ticket and have some fun in the sun. Jump over here to check out the full line-up and for more information.

In a sad turn of events though, Brand New have pulled out of the event:

"Brand New regretfully announce that due to insurmountable personal issues, they have been forced to cancel their August European tour, including appearances at the Reading and Leeds Festivals. Sincere apologies to everyone we are letting down."

[News] Biffy Clyro, System of a Down, Foals and Fall Out Boy Announced for Reading and Leeds Festival

Well isn't this a turn up for the books. Following them scoring their first ever number one album this past weekend with, Opposites, Biffy Clyro have just been announced as the second headliner this year at Reading and Leeds festival set to take part over the bank holiday weekend in August. Eminem has previously been announced to be headlining with Deftones, Boy Better Know, Alt-J and Subfocus also already being announced.

Along with the headliner slot beign announced, System of a Down, Foals, Bring Me The Horizon have been added to the slot. Last time SOAD played Leeds festival, the crowd went so nuts the barrier at the front collapsed. The bar is set pretty high, and I'll expect it to be just as crazy in the pits this time around some 8 years after their last set at the festival. Following the news of Fall Out Boy's return yesterday they too have been added to the weekend. Hundreds of more bands are yet to be added to the weekend including one more headliner of the main stage. We'll update you once they're announced.

For more info and to purchase tickets head over to the Reading/Leeds official site.

[News] Eminem Announced For Reading & Leeds Festival

At the end of November Reading and Leeds festival broke from their normal tradition and announced some headliners prior to the usual protocol of it happening in March right before tickets go on sale. In that they said Deftones, Alt-J, Subfocus and Boy Better Know featuring Wiley, Skepta and JME. Today they've announced another and it's a biggie. Returning to the festival for the first time since 2001, Eminem will take centre stage with a full band behind him. It's sure to be a popular addition to the festival and a highlight of the 2013 summer calendar. Others rumoured to be performing include Blur and Black Sabbath. This could shape up to be one for the books.

Pre-sale tickets are on sale now.

[News] Initial Leeds & Reading Festival Line-Up Announced Incl. Deftones & Alt-J

Leeds & Reading take place on a *usually* sunny bank-holiday weekend in August. For me it was my first ever Festival experience and next year will be my 9th in a row. Yeah, I know, 9. I feel a little older just for typing that. With 2012 being a raging success with sets from The Black Keys, Foo Fighters, The Cure, At The Drive In and Florence and the Machine, 2013's initial line-up has just been announced. It's a break from tradition as the festivals normally announce a large portion of the acts in March along with tickets immediately after. The line-up announcement so far, 4 acts, is a pretty mixed bag  but it should definitely get some people pretty excited. Deftones, Alt-J, Sub Focus and Boy Better Know are those 4.

Organisers of the festival have stated they're looking to broaden the horizons of the event with more stages and a re-shuffle of the main arenas, so I'm expecting this mix of acts to be a preview of something far bigger, covering many people's musical tastes.

Weekend tickets will go on sale tomorrow and they'll be doing a deposit scheme in which you can pit down £50 and then pay the rest before 31st March next year. Pretty neat huh?!

Every bank holiday weekend in August a music festival takes place in Leeds and Reading, both of which have the same line-up playing alternate days and as preciously reported, last night the line-up was finally released. Rumours had been flying around for quite some time about who would be making an appearance and it's always nice when the rumours become a reality. As you can see from the above poster, arena conquerors Foo Fighters will return to their comfortable headline slot with The Black Keys playing before them. The Cure will also make a return to the festival, their first in 30 years! Paramore will play beneath them. Florence & The Machine will also play beneath Kasabian on the 3rd day.

Other artists announced in this first round include Justice, Maccabees and At The Drive in heading up the NME stage with the line-up being filled out by riff mongrels Pulled Apart By Horses who will open up main stage on the Friday at Leeds. Also filling out the bill are Cancer Bats, Crystal Castles, The Cribs, Miike Snow, The Horrors and SBTRKT. The Shins will make their return also! Soak it all in and make the jump to see which bands play which day at the two festivals. See you there!

[News] Reading & Leeds Festival Line-up Coming on March 12th

So, with the Festival season drawing ever nearer the announcements have been every week recently! UK festivals have some big boots to fill too as Glastonbury takes a break, but on March 12th those could very well be filled as Reading & Leeds Festival will make their announcement via Festival Republic. Rumours are rife of Foo Fighters and Kasabian being headliners on the main stage while personally I'd like to see The Black Keys on the bill of a UK festival. Maybe they'll headline the NME stage?

Time will tell but the festival has also announced a new payment plan in which you can pay in 2 or 4 installments. More details over on the official sites. Watch this space as I think this year's line up will be pretty solid. Last year was pretty good but this year with the big daddy Glasto sleeping, headliners should be BIG.
