Nothin But Fuckin Love Songs vol. 4
OH HULLO! ✨👋🏻
How’s my Valentine!?!?! 💘
Yo remember when I had a lot of intense but well meaning things to say about love on Valentines Day when I dropped vol. 2 back in 2021? I just had such a moment looking back at that post now, it’s so beautiful to be able to witness myself at the beginning of this healing journey I’ve been on. I’ve really been committed to making space for everyone to feel loved since I got in the thick of this. (She’s always been such a sweet sweetie! 🥹)
So wild to think of how little space I was actually making for myself in that moment.
It can be really hard to see the love around you, let alone be open to receive all of it. I didn’t realize just how bad I had gotten at receiving love until I was fortunate enough to enroll in yoga teacher training in the fall of last year. During the week when we were covering the heart chakra, we were told we would be doing an exercise where we were going to sit in a circle with our knees touching, hands on our knees, and then have someone sit in the center of the circle. That person was then supposed to make eye contact with you, say something they loved about you, and you were just supposed to take a breath and receive whatever they said while maintaining eye contact.
You had to rotate and have this experience with every single person in the circle.
Yeah.
I remember thinking to myself, “OMG That sounds so uncomfortable. Watch, they’re going to make me go first or some shit.”
THEY TOTALLY FUCKING DID. 😂
Let’s just say thankfully(?) it was just about as overwhelming for everyone else as it was for me. 😮💨 I probably had the most snot on my hoodie tho 😪. It was so fucking sweet. We all got so much closer after that.
I’ll never forget that experience. It’s made me think a lot about how it seems like it’s become just as hard to receive love as it is to feel comfortable asking for it, and not just from other people, but also from ourselves.
I’ve recently started to use love songs as a litmus test to see where I’m at with my relationship with myself on any given day. 🧪 If I catch myself hung up on a song and I’m feeling anxious as a result, I pay attention to how the lover is addressed in the song and show up for myself in that way. When the song goes back to feel good vibes that’s how I know I’ve done my job effectively. It’s a pretty cool concept to experiment with. I invite you to give it a try with your favorite love songs. Alternatively, as per usual, I’ve assembled another stack of songs from my stockpile for my annual offering, so if you’re open to receiving some love from me while you venture inward, amazing. You can also just listen to these and pretend like they’re all for you, too. You know how to love yourself best (or you should anyway), so take all the love you need from these pixels you’re interacting with right now.
Sending you Lots of love, Valentine! 💖
[News] Bestival Announces Line-Up Additions; Beck & Foals join Outkast as headliners
Bestival has just announced its initial line-up and it's going to be hard to beat in terms of ending your summer on a high in 2014. Beck and Foals will top the bill at the event, joining the returning duo of Outkast, as announced last week. The rest of the acts announced are Disclosure, Major Lazer, Sam Smith, CHVRCHES, London Grammar, Wild Beasts, Caribou, Clean Bandit and Laura Mvula.
As is tradition with the festival, it will have a theme and this year it's 'Desert Island Disco'. I think opens up a few more options compared to 2013's nautical 'HMS Bestival' theme so get your thinking caps on if you're planning on grabbing a ticket.
Bestival takes place from September 4th-7th on the Isle of Wight and tickets are on sale now.

[Watch] Tame Impala Covers Outkast's "Prototype" for Triple J
If you had to guess one of Tame Impala's "favorite songs ever" what would it be? I bet you wouldn't have guessed that it's Outkast's Speakerboxxx/The Love Below cut "Prototype." Visiting Triple J studios, the Australian outfit chose to cover that song for the radio station's ongoing "Like A Version" segment. The band turns the mellow funk-laden jam into a reverbed psychedelic number, and it's actually really good. Check it out below.
[News] André 3000 Clears Up Rumors of OutKast "Reunion"
Last week, Big Boi dropped a remix of Frank Ocean's "Pink Matter" that included a lengthy verse from the rapper. The obvious excitement stemming from the remix was the fact that the original song featured André 3000, spouting rumors of a possible OutKast reunion. Who wouldn't be excited about this prospect? Apparently André. Today, he issued a statement to SPIN, saying:
It’s important for me to be clear about the origins of my contributions to ‘Pink Matter’ and ‘Sorry.'
I was approached as a solo artist by both Frank Ocean & Tip. I discussed musical direction with each artist and completed my verses. It was after that when Big Boi’s name came up.
I never want to mislead our audience – I worried that some would think these were Outkast collaborations. These songs are not Outkast collaborations. I discussed this rationale with Big, Frank and T.I. and everyone agreed. That is why I was surprised to read about these remixes.
I understand that anyone can put out an unofficial remix to any song but I have an obligation to be honest with fans about what this is … and what it isn’t."
The statement fits with André's issues with featuring Big Boi on the commercial version of "Pink Matter". In a similar situation, Big Boi has mentioned a future remix of T.I.'s "Sorry", which also featured André. Big Boi has yet to comment on the statement, but, in the meantime, we can all enjoy the greatness of the "Pink Matter" remix. Stream it below.
[Listen] Big Boi - "Mama Told Me" Feat. Kelly Rowland
Some of you may remember when Big Boi debuted this jam live alongside Little Dragon back in August and announced that the collaboration was going be released on his upcoming solo effort, Vicious Lies & Dangerous Rumors. Unfortunately, it appears the original collaboration appears to be nothing but a vicious lie and dangerous rumor itself (see what I did there?) with Little Dragon being subbed out on the final version with R&B songtress Kelly Rowland and production from The Flush Music.
Nevertheless, it is still a jamming track and seeing how Little Dragon will still be credited with songwriting credits it's not a total loss. I'm just a little salty cuz the original was the shit. Anyways peep the final below as well as the live video with Little Dragon then compare and let us know what version you appreciate more. Big Boi's Vicious Lies & Dangerous Rumors is set to drop on November 13th.

[Download] Wick-it the Instigator Presents Big Boi vs The Black Keys - The Brothers of Chico Dusty
Im not the biggest fan of mashups, however, when you take one of the best rock albums of the year, The Black Keys' Brothers and the one of the dopest hip hop album of the year, Big Boi's Sir Lucious Left Foot: The Son of Chico Dusty, and you rock the mix correctly like DJ Wick-It has done with his album The Brothers of Chico Dusty, the results can be dangerously fresh. So before you even hit play on the player below, i'm going to go ahead and hype up this album even more and dub it, SKoA's Mashup Album of The Year. Enjoy! Shouts to 2DopeBoyz, RockItOut!Blog and Antiquiet for the heads up on this.

[Listen] Hear A Preview of El-P x Killer Mike's Upcoming Collaboration
That picture pretty much says it all, well almost. El-P has been working on production on Killer Mike's upcoming album R.A.P. (Rebellious African People) Music. El and Bigga let loose a preview of whats to come and IMO its incredible. El's production sounds like its straight from the Can Ox/Fan Dam era which has me completely excited and Killer Mike as always is a beast. But now, back to the photo, El has 3 beats that he has given to Bigga and it is rumored that Big Boi (of Outkast) may appear on one of those tracks. Your mind explode yet? If not, it will when you listen to the first leak of this collab below. R.A.P. (Rebellious African People) Music drops sometime next year.
