[Download] Reptar - "Age of Consent" (New Order Cover)
New kids on the block Reptar have not long ago released their full-length debut, Body Faucet via Vagrant Records. Today though we get a different cut from the band as they offer up an impressive sounding cover of New Order's "Age of Consent" which featured on their 1983 album Power, Corruption & Lies.
[Listen] Destroyer - "Leave Me Alone" (New Order Cover)
Canadian group Destroyer have offered their ode to one of the UK's most influential bands, New Order, with this cover of their track "Leave Me Alone". The cover was part of Mojo Magazine's compilation that got together a load of bands to offer up New Order Covers. This seems to be the cream of the crop though. See what you make of it below.
[News] New Order Reunite Minus Bassist Peter Hook
There's always been a back and forth of what i'd like to call 'banter' between the former New Order bassist, Peter Hook, and the other original members of the Manchester band. Now news has come that the other members of the legendary band will come together for two shows in October minus Hook though. Instead of Peter on bass, the duties are passed on to Tom Chapman of Bad Lieutenant. He will be slappin' the bass in hooks place, or strumming it more likely. The first gig will take place on October 17th at Ancienne Belgique in Brussels the following day (October 18th) will see them travel to France for a show at La Bataclan in Paris. No doubt die-hard fans will make a trip to one of the shows and lucky European New Order fans look like they'll be able to see the band one last time.
The shows are to help benefit film producer Michael Shamberg, who produced a number of the bands early videos.
[Download] Bernard Sumner (of Joy Division/New Order) x Hot Chip x Hot City - "I Didn't Know What Love Was"
The folks over at Converse are at it again. First they brought N*E*R*D, Santigold and Julian Casablancas of The Strokes together for hit, then Kid CuDi, Bethany of Best Coast and Rostam of Vampire Weekend together for the jam of the summer and now they bring one of the founding member of two of the UK’s most influential bands, Joy Division and New Order together with Alexis Taylor and Joe Goddard of the indie electronic band Hot Chip and the electronic musician/DJ/producer duo, Hot City, made up of DJ Haus & DJ Benz!? They must be outta their minds!
The group recorded a new song titled Called "I Didn't Know What Love Was", and will be available to stream or download for free from ConverseBlog.com, later today (or you can listen below if you are impatient). Check out Bernards converse film as well above.
NME also reports, Blur's Graham Coxon, ex-Coral guitarist Bill Ryder-Jones and Paloma Faith have also recorded a song for converse, which will be released in January.
