[Listen] Mondo Generator - "The Last Train" Feat. Josh Homme x John Garcia
I must say that I did not see this coming following the whole Kyuss Lives! debacle but hey, we're definitely not going to complain. Our buddies over at Antiquiet point towards a new track from Nick Oliveri's band Mondo Generator and it features not only Kyuss singer John Garcia but Josh Homme too. I know, how awesome is that! AQ also point to an interview with Let There Be Talk on The Laugh Factory in which Nick talks about how him and Josh have smoothed everything over now.
The track features on Mondo's new album Hell Comes To Your Heart which is out now.
[News] Josh Homme Turns Down Nick Oliveri's Offer To Reunite QOTSA
According to an interview with UGO.com Nick Oliveri has shed light on the rumours that were sparked last year when this picture appeared of Josh and Nick hanging out in LA. Rumours were flying around like wildfire that Nick would possibly return to Queens Of The Stone Age and his role as their bass player. They were quickly shot down though and in the interview Nick says he and Josh are now on good terms and that as far as he knows Josh is "proud of the Kyuss thing as far as [he knows]" which is good to know.
In relation to Nick ever rejoining QOTSA Nick apparently asked Josh at the Benefit Show for Brian O'Connor last year saying he "saw them play [the] benefit for Brian in L.A., from the Eagles. I was down there and I mentioned to them, "Why don't I come up and do 'Millionaire' or something, and sing it and not play bass?" He was like, "Nah, I don't think that's a good idea yet." It's kind of in his court for stuff like that. I don't think he wants to give anybody the wrong idea. I don't necessarily know if that would happen. And he's got a good band - he's taking the band in the direction he wants it to go. Hey, it's all good". So Josh doesn't want to give the Nick lovers false hope that Nick would ever return in the future or maybe just not right at this very moment.
The pair seem to be on good terms now as Nick and Mondo Generator recorded their latest record in his studios and Nick closes the interview by speaking of the chemistry him and Josh used to have, "I know my songs that I write are definitely better with his [Josh's] hand on them, and his parts put into them, and his production on them, too. But you know, I don't know if he necessarily feels that way about my input on his! [Laughs] He's taken the band in a direction he wants it to go, and that's cool. I kind of feel that Queens is a totally different band now than what it was." And I think that's a fair point Queens has had a lot of guys come in and play on records and live, and right now the band Josh has by his side is a solid one, if their performance at SXSW last week was anything to go by fans will have a tight performance to enjoy when the band tour their self titled in the coming months. But more on that later. For now, let's put to rest the idea that Nick will be playing with Queens Of The Stone Age again any time soon.
