[News] Parklife Announces Initial Line-Up including Snoop Dogg, Foals, Kendrick Lamar & More

As we mentioned earlier the festival line-ups are coming in thick and fast and Manchester's very own Parklife Weekender, organised by the people at Warehouse Project, have just released the initial bill. For an event that's been growing year on year since its inception, it seems they've delivered once again as it's pretty damn big! Snoop Dogg and Foals top the bill on the main stage in the evenings while throughout the bill are big names. Bastille, Disclosure, Katy B, Soul II Soul, Danny Brown, Public Enemy, Seth Troxler, Chromeo, Moderat, Maya Jane Coles, London Grammar, Mount Kimbie, and a UK festival exclusive from Kendrick Lamar. It's sure to be a huge weekend. Check out the full line-up so far here.

With more announcements to come, who knows what other surprises the team has in store. The event takes place in Manchester's Heaton Park on the weekend of June 7th-8th and you can pick up tickets from £79.50 for the full weekend, or £49.50 for a day ticket over on parklife.uk.com.

[Watch] Mark Ronson & Katy B - "Anywhere In The World" (Video)

Coca Cola, the official sponsor of the upcoming Olympics in London, have enlisted the help of Mark Ronson to create a song for the forthcoming event. The creative producer has used unconventional means to create his song, using things such as the heartbeat of Russian runner Kseniya Olegovna Vdovina and the punches of Taekwondo athlete Maria del Rosario Espinoza to emulate certain aspects of his anthemic track. Katy B also joins in as the vocalist on the track, making the already epic song much more grandiose. As well, if you are interested in seeing exactly how Ronson created each aspect of the single, including the use of athletes, head over to Coca Cola's website to see the "Making Of" video.

[Listen] Arctic Monkeys - "Katy on a Mission" (Katy B Cover) in Radio One's Live Lounge

Called it! A few weeks ago I said we'd have an Arctic Monkeys cover and a weird one at that. Today on Radio One, Alex Turner and the band were in the Live Lounge on the forgettable Fearne Cotton show to put in some performances. Laying down a great rendition of "Black Treacle" they then went on to perform a mystery cover. The song they chose was Katy B's "Katy on a Mission" and turned the dub track into a chilled guitar number with tremolo filled riffs.

Check out the Katy B cover below and head on over to the official Beeb site for photos and footage of the performance later today. The band also performed "I Bet You Look Good on the Dancefloor" before having numerous comedic chats with Fearne. Props to The NJ Underground for saving my time as before I've even finshed cutting the rip, they've got it online!

[News] Radio One's Big Weekend Main Stage Lineup Revealed; Foo Fighters, My Chemical Romance, Lady Gaga...

Every year Radio One put on their 'Big Weekend' at which a range of artists play slots to fans all who have won tickets for the event. I personally won tickets one year and the atmosphere is great due to everyone having a free weekend watching some great bands it truly is a little bit special. You may not like the entire lineup due to it being mainly Radio One plugged artists, and we wouldn't blame you. However with the amount of bands set to play there's always a stage to enjoy something at.

This year they announced, literally within the past hour, that Foo Fighters would be headlining the Saturday, with My Chemical Romance topping the bill on the Sunday. Then throughout both days on the main stage there's the likes of Tinie Tempah, Plan B, Chase and Status, Ellie Goulding, Jessie J, Black Eyed Peas, Nicole Sherzinger, Professor Green, Katy B, The Wombats, The Script along with a few others. That's just the main stage, throughout the week the other stages will be announced on numerous Radio One shows so keep your eyes peeled as we'll update this as and when. You can see the announced line up so far over here. Tickets are often given out in a raffle style way, or to loyal listeners of Radio One, and you enter competitions and what not. It's hard to get tickets but it's definitely worth a shot for a weekend full of free music. For now why not enjoy some footage of Muse playing the weekend a few years back.

UPDATE: Lady Gaga has just been announced too! For a free festival some of its performers rival those of major UK festivals. Just sayin'.

[News] Katy B Announces Debut Album 'On a Mission'

If you're stateside you may not have heard much from Katy B who had a rapid rise to fame in the UK last summer when featuring on a few Magnetic Man tracks as well as having a smash hit with her Benga produced track "Katy On A Mission". Now news has come that her debut is set for a March 28th release date and Benda will have had a helping hand in the production of the LP. Regarding her full length debut Katy said "It’s me, just as a young woman, partying, relationships… the album’s definitely where I’m coming from. Tracks like Disappear and Easy Please Me are all experiences in my life and emotions that I’ve felt.”

Prior to the albums release Katy B will be on tour in February with SKoA favourite Tinie Tempah before embarking on an 11 date jaunt of her own in April. You can check out the albums tracklisting and her April tour dates after the jump. 2011 looks like another good year for Ms. B.
