[Watch] Mayer Hawthorne - "A Long Time" (Video)

If this isn't a testament to how well Mayer Hawthorne has been able to make the old school sound relevant today, I don't know what does. The above video for his cover of the Hall and Oates classic "A Long Time" is paired with footage from an old dance show that manages to look like it has always been put together that way.

It's hard not to be in love with Hawthorne's voice when it's that insanely smooth. It's like buttah. He absolutely killed it on this one.

Okay, I'm a little creeped out right now. Last night in addition to having a crazy dream, Hall & Oates - "Private Eyes" was the featured soundtrack. Now today this video surfaces with clever editing of Hall & Oates
perfomring" the Broken Bells jam "The Ghost Inside". It's pretty funny if you take the minute to watch the videos side by side.

Daryl Hall, Chromeo To Perform Together At Bonnaroo Festival 2010

 

File under: random but potentially SUPER AWESOME! Daryl Hall (you know, from Hall & Oates) and Chromeo have announced that they will be performing together Friday, June 11th at Bonnaroo Music Festival in Manchester, TN. 

Apparently this is not the first time that the unlikely pairing has happened. Back in 2008, Hall had Chromeo on his web show called "Live From Daryl's House" and the episode was widely successful. Their upcoming Bonnaroo performance is merely a reprise of the prior collaboration, slated to perform both Hall & Oates and Chromeo classics. 

This performance could not come at a better time for Chromeo, who are currently working in the studio in order to release their third studio album in August of 2010. You can catch up with them in their "lab" via their currently relaunched blog. If their single, "Night By Night" is any indication of what's to come from these guys, I am STOKED.
