[Listen] Ellie Goulding - "Burn"
The last we heard of Ellie Goulding was a brilliant cover of Alt-J's "Tessellate", but today she returns with a brand new track of her own. Titled "Burn", I'm definitely not feeling as much as her cover and it's not clear if it's taken from a new release or will be featured on a re-issue of her latest release Halcyon. We shall see, but for now you can see what you make of the new poppy track below.
[Listen] Ellie Goulding - "Tessellate" (Alt-J Cover)
This was a nice surprise to see pop up in my feed a few days ago. Earmilk snagged a premiere of a beautiful sounding cover from the talented Ellie Goulding. We've heard her cover numerous tracks and she never disappoints. Today is no different as she takes on another huge British band, Alt-J, and their track "Tessellate" which featured on the Mercury Prize winning, An Awesome Wave. Now add into the mix production from Xaphoon Jones of Chiddy Bang and you've got one absolutely great track. Check it out below.
[Watch] Ellie Goulding - "Explosions" (Official Video)
I'll be the first person to admit I've never been the biggest Ellie Goulding fan although I did see her years ago at a tiny little Manchester show and she was this shy, timid young girl, hidden behind a large (in comparison to her) acoustic guitar. With her latest tracks though, I have caught myself on numerous occasions singing along in the office.
The new video for the Halcyon featuring track Explosions goes to show just how far she's come as a performer and I have big respect for that. The clip sees her performing live at numerous locations around the USA, taking centre stage and owning whichever venue she happens to be playing that evening. See for yourselves above.
Halcyon is out now.
[Listen] Ben Howard - "Figure 8" (Ellie Goulding Cover) in Radio One's Live Lounge
Today's guest in Radio One's Live Lounge was the talented Mr. Ben Howard who brought along his backing band to put in some spine tingling performances of his recent singles but he also put in a fantastic cover. After performing "Esmerelda", "Only Love", "Keep Your Head Up" and a personal favourite track of mine at the moment, "Oats in the Water", he opted to take on Ellie Goulding's current single "Figure 8". The results are quite simply magical from start to finish. You can check out his cover below. To listen to the entire set, head over to the official BBC website.
[Watch] Ellie Goulding - "Figure 8" (Official Video)
Following the release of her new album, Halcyon, Ellie Goulding has been promoting the hell out of it. We got to enjoy the "Anything Can Happen" video back in September, followed by a few late night TV performances and now we get the visual for single two, "Figure 8". The video sees her using some White Stripe like colours to portray her feelings of missing an ex. I mention the White Stripes but black, white and red were around long before them! I know that but I grew up with their aesthetic and their videos were on TV a lot so it always casts me back to them. See if it does the same for you above.
Halcyon is out now and you can pick up a copy here.
[Watch] Ellie Goulding - "Anything Could Happen" Live on Conan
She's back at it again! Following a performance on Fallon last week, last night Ellie Goulding performed another rendition of "Anything Could Happen" on the late night circuit with a visit to Conan. The performance as with pretty much every live performance I've seen of her in the past few years, she seems to be a lot more confident on stage now mind. I remember seeing her in Manchester 3+ years ago and she was a shy, acoustic guitar wielding youngster. Fast forward to now and she's rocking the stage on Conan with ease.
Her new album Halcyon is out now but you can catch the performance from last night at the top courtesy of The Audio Perv.
