[Watch] Vampire Weekend Have Their Last Supper in the Clip for "Diane Young"
Vampire Weekend brought a bunch of their friends together and had one last supper. The ensuing debauchery sees the band, along with Chromeo, Santigold, Dirty Projectors' David Lonsgtreth, Sky Ferreira and The Walkmen's Hamilton Leithauser, partying lavishly. If there's one thing to take away from the "Diane Young" video, it's that saxophones make for good pipes. Check it out below.
Modern Vampires of the City, Vampire Weekend's third album, is out now.
[Listen] AlunaGeorge Remixes Dirty Projectors' "The Socialites"
Dirty Projectors' Swing Lo Magellan highlight "The Socialites" gets the remix treatment. Today, the band released a 12" single featuring three remixes, including Hot Chip's Joe Goddard, FaltyDL and AlunaGeorge. You can now stream AlunaGeorge's sensual interpretation of the song.
The British duo take the original and give it significant tonal shift. The remix begins with soft sexuality, as echoing synths and sweeping chimes draw you into a night of romance. Things amp up quite quickly as AlunaGeorge twist the pitch of Amber Coffman's vocals and drop some bombastic distorted bass before bringing it back to a relaxed atmosphere. The remix has great breadth, but keeps it tight and enticing. Solid work. Stream it below along with the original.
[Listen] Dirty Projectors Remix Phoenix's "Entertainment"
Phoenix's "Entertainment" gets the remix treatment once again. After getting drastically reworked by Grizzly Bear, fellow New Yorkers Dirty Projectors step up to the plate. The band chose to give the single a glitchy rehashing, highlighting the vocals amidst trippy instrumentation. Add in handclaps and you've got a solid remix. Stream it below.
[Listen] Dirty Projectors - "There's A Fire"
It's never a bad thing when you wake up to some new Dirty Projectors music, and their (not so) new cut "There's A Fire" is definitely worth the listen. It's not necessarily a brand new track as the song served as the b-side for the band's "Offspring Are Blank" 7". But, since the single was printed in a limited 250 quantity and sold only at Dirty Projectors' January 2013 performance at Carnegie Hall, it's new to most of us! Stream the song below, and if you want to grab a copy of the 7" vinyl there are still a few copies available through Domino's website.
[Watch] Dirty Projectors Perform "Offspring Are Blank" on Conan
Dirty Projectors pulled from their excellent sixth album Swing Lo Magellan during a visit to Conan last night, where they performed album opener "Offspring Are Blank". David Longstreth impresses as always with his malleable voice, expanding and contracting his vocal chords with relative ease. Check out their performance above.
The band's two most recent releases, Swing Lo Magellan and About to Die EP, are available now. As well, the New York outfit will be appearing at numerous festivals in the coming months, including Sasquatch! and Governors Ball.
[Watch] Dirty Projectors - "Offspring Are Blank" (Video)
Dirty Projectors emerge from trash in this (not-so) new clip for the Swing Lo Magellan opener "Offspring Are Blank". As for the "not-so-new" bit, the David Longstreth-directed video includes some footage featured in the band's short film Hi Custodian. Still worth the watch, in my opinion. Check it out above.
[Watch] Dirty Projectors Drop by Letterman to Perform "About to Die"
Returning to the Ed Sullivan Theatre, the Dirty Projectors performed the title track from their newly released EP About to Die. David Longstreth's expansive vocal range was in full use during the performance, as the band beautifully rendered the song in the live setting. David Letterman was as impressed as we are. Check out the replay above.

[Listen] Dirty Projectors - "While You're Here"
Dirty Projectors' Swing Lo Magellan was one of the more impressive albums released so far this year, and they quickly continue their creative stride with a new EP entitled About to Die. "While You're Here" is the second track we've heard from the four-song extended play, and, simply put, it's good. David Longstreth manipulates his vocals in uncanny ways amongst a solemn yet powerful wave of strings. Longstreth also states in a tweet that the song is a dedication to the late TV on the Radio bassist Gerard Smith, who passed away last year. Stream it below.
About to Die EP is out on November 6th via Domino Records.
