[Listen] Black Milk - "Brain" x "Royal Mega" (Co-Prod By Jack White)
Well this is an unexpected end to the night. Detroit emcee/producer Black Milk teams up with Third Man labelhead Jack White on the latest single release in Third Man Records' Blue Series. The two tracks "Brain" and "Royal Mega" are White's first, surfaced, hip hop offering with him co-producing each track and joins in on guitar on the single's A-Side "Brain" and putting down drums on the B-Side "Royal Mega." Black Milk explained how the two hooked up on his blog, check it out below:
"It’s a pretty crazy feeling when you’re going about your regular, every day routine in the studio and all of sudden you get a phone call that Jack White wants to work with you. The email to my manager came from Jack White himself. My first reaction was one of shock that an artist like him, who most people would categorize as a rock star, would want to work with an independent hip-hop artist. My second reaction was surprise that he even knew I existed, even though we’re from the same city. Of course, my response was “Hell yeah! When and where do I need to be to make this happen?” A few back and forth emails led to my band (keyboardist AB; drummer Daru Jones and bassist Malik Hunter) and I taking a trip to Nashville to record at Jack’s home studio."
The single is currently available to purchase on iTunes and will also be released on vinyl. Check out both tracks below and go pick this release up. Now if we could only get that Jay-Z x Jack White collaboration "Ray Bans".
