[News] Arctic Monkeys Schedule Two Homecoming Shows This Summer
After only yesterday getting word of Alex Turner's solo effort for the film, Submarine, today we get word that Arctic Monkeys are to play two big homecoming gigs in Sheffield this summer! Set to take place in June they have scheduled 2 nights for their hometown. On Friday 10th June and Saturday 11th June 2011 respectively. The band will be performing in a custom designed tent at The Don Valley Bowl in Sheffield and will be supported by a line up of special guests hand picked by the band. On Friday 10th June Arctic Monkeys will be joined by Miles Kane, The Vaccines and Sheffield band, Dead Sons. On the Saturday again fans will get Miles Kane and this time he'll be joined by Anna Calvi and another Sheffield act, Mabel Love. Miles Kane has a good relationship with the band via Alex as some of you may know when the two had an album together under the name The Last Shadow Puppets, and in the past if my mind serves me right, The Rascals supported the Arctics on more than a few occasions.
In relation to the gig the band said: "We're really looking forward to playing Sheffield with our special guests. It's great doing our own event and it's going to be a wonderful couple of days in our hometown". So if your in the area and want to check out the Arctic Monkeys doing what they do best and causing a few thousand people to jump around in unison then you can pick up tickets this Friday from 9am. Tickets will be available over here from Friday.
